LET’s RIDE….
Hi, everybody.
I’d like to start with a note of congratulations to Julian Rubinstein and the rest of the folks behind the film, The Holly. We recently hosted a community screening of this film in partnership with the Equity Speaker Series. The film just received the Audience Choice Award – Documentary Feature at the Denver Film Festival. Good stuff, that.
This week started with a sprint as we hosted six elementary schools over two days for a bilingual play, Casa Alfonsa, mounted by Creede Repertory Theater. The show had it all! There was puppetry, singing, dancing, and lessons on navigating grief and handling disagreements. I wish they had done that kind of stuff when I was in school. What a treat for us all!
Saturday, we welcome a side project from Leftover Salmon’s founding frontman, Vince Herman. The music of Vince Herman Band, in his words, “Represents what country music is to me. Rooted in tradition but wide open and ready for a good ride.” We appreciate the support from Be Hippy. Let’s ride, y’all!
We added more events to the calendar. Check them out.
- December 3 – Dance Flamenco – I know we sprang this one on you, but it is not to be missed. Live flamenco guitar and skilled dancers from Lisa Trujillo Dance. A fun Spanish night, for sure! Thank you for the support on this one, 1st Bank!
- December 11 – Aspen Choral Society Presents Handel’s Messiah – I mentioned this last week, but tickets are now available.
- January 11 & February 8 – Alive – A New Kind of Nightlife – Aspen Shakti is back for more nights of sweat, music, and joy.
- January 20 – Comedian Beth Stelling – Fresh off her HBO special, Girl Daddy, Ms. Stelling brings the funny.
- March 3 – Christone “Kingfish” Ingram – I am pretty dang stoked for this one. TACAW’s is a house of blues on this night.
All year, I kept hearing this weird word. It sounded like vay-kay-shun. I did a little research and found out this “vacation” thing just might be something I could get into. So, Toddy and I are going to change latitudes next week. See you in December!
Best,
Kendall Smith
