Haley H + International Jazz Day
Hi, everybody.
Where are y’all? I’m missing many of the familiar faces. This is your weekly reminder that we are here for you to shake off the shoulder-season snow (seriously, what’s up with that). With some stellar programming (if we do say so ourselves).
This week presents a few compelling opportunities to gather.
- Friday – Haley Heynderickx – An evening of really fine indie folk. Supporting act LéPonds. Tickets are available HERE.
- Sunday – International Jazz Day – multiple options for you to celebrate with us and our friends at JAS. If you aren’t in New Orleans, this is the Jazzy place to be.
- 10 am – Jazz Brunch – Delicious food & drink with sweet sounds. Tickets HERE
- 2 pm – JAS Student Showcase – Bands from Aspen, Roaring Fork, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and Coal Ridge High Schools. FREE, but RSVPs help us plan.
- 8 pm – Sammy Miller and the Congregation – This will be a high-energy, charisma-filled evening of GREAT music. Tickets are still available HERE.
- Tuesday – Roaring Fork Valley State of the Arts Symposium – Info and registration are HERE.
We’ve added a few more events to the calendar.
- May 3 – 5Point Film Fest Encore – A special encore selection of films from their Flagship Festival.
- August 5 – SUSTO – They’re back! If you saw them here in October, you know. If you missed them, now’s your chance to rectify that mistake. They are coming through with a new record that drops in July. Supporting act Esther Rose (THIS is her new record).
- July 8 – Jenny and the Mexicats – Elements of flamenco, jazz, and folk music with Latin rhythms, creating a unique sound that is both innovative and accessible. AND highly danceable!
Still in the theme of valley life, I had a Sunday to beat most Sundays to start this week. I slept in a little. Went to the always inspiring Changemakers Film Program at 5Point. Toddy and I proceeded to Red Hill for a little hike. Is it me or is there a higher concentration of gravity on Ruthie’s? I know, it is me. We capped the day with a soak at Iron Mountain. That pretty much sums up valley life, yes? Arts and culture, outdoor pursuits, therapeutic waters. A guy could should get used to this. Oh, here is a link to one of my favorite Elton John songs.
