Comedy, Climate Challenge, & Haley
Hi, everybody.
Woah. We sure know how to make up for lost time. Thanks to those who packed the house for The Motet. What a great night! Good vibes all around.
COMEDY
Onward! The Reduced Shakespeare Company is here on Friday. I can’t believe tickets still remain for The Complete History of Comedy (abridged). This promises to be a fast-paced, rollicking good time. There are still some Supper Club spots open before the show – here is the MENU). Get tickets HERE. We appreciate Neurospa for helping make this night possible.
New events
While we are on the subject of comedy, we have a couple of new events for you:
- May 13 – Local Comedy Showcase – This valley has some funny folks. Come watch host Ryan Honey herd these hilarious cats.
- June 10 – Comedian Shane Torres – A fave from The Temporary days returns to Basalt.
Saturday afternoon, we celebrate Earth Day with a performance of Captain POW!: A Climate Change Challenge. I love so much about this project. It is fun. It is informative. It was developed with support from Aspen Skiing Company’s Environmental Foundation. It features two talented actors from right here in the valley. And this edition is presented in partnership with our friends at CORE and ACES. Oh, and it is FREE.
I forgot to tell y’all I went to another festival. A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee for Big Ears. It was an amazing and unique experience. This was a true festival of discovery for me. So much talent I was unfamiliar with. Luckily, I had Mr. Lipkin as a guide. He turned me on to some pretty heady stuff. The most striking thing for me (aside from the number of quality venues within walking distance in a town that size) was the listening room environment that is at the core of this festival. Thousands of people moving venue to venue only to settle into their seats to pay the highest compliment of listening intently to the artist. Room after room was commanded by the talent on stage. Impressive. We have a night like this coming.
Haley Heynderickx
Haley Heynderickx is bringing her special brand of indie folk to TACAW. Give a listen to this 2018 record. It is lovely in its composition and haunting vocals. It will definitely be a special night. I see at least six sold-out dates on her current run. Tickets are HERE.
Oh, and here is an earworm for reading this far. I really love this love song right now. What are you doing on June 8?
