EcoFlight is a Colorado-based non-profit that provides the aerial perspective to conservation across the Western U.S. EcoFlight empowers stakeholders, students, scientists, elected officials, and experts to make balanced decisions for our landscapes, based on their intimate and objective experience from the cockpit of EcoFlight’s Cessna 210 airplanes. 

Water in the West, during a time of Climate Chaos, will be the culmination of EcoFlight’s annual college-level student program, Flight Across America (FLAA). 

Pete McBride, master storyteller, and a National Geographic filmmaker will share his expert knowledge gained both from the aerial perspective and intense exploration on the ground, focusing on his 2023 experiences following the Colorado River from its headwaters to its dried-up delta. 

Auden Schendler, Senior Vice President of Sustainability for Aspen Skiing Company, will discuss the importance of climate change and water to the West and to our ability to continue to recreate, whether skiing on our local mountains or boating on Lake Powell. 

EcoFlight leaders Bruce Gordon and Jane Pargiter and our 2023 FLAA college students will share highlights from their EcoFlight expedition examining our recently drought-stricken West from above. The FLAA students will share images of Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado River, the burn scar from New Mexico’s largest wildfire ever, and more.
