The Program:
Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: BEFORE THE SUN
(88 min.)
An intimate and thrilling portrait of a young Siksika woman, Logan Red Crow, and her family in the golden plains of Blackfoot Territory as she prepares for one of the most dangerous horse races in the world… bareback. The connections explored here are profound and lasting: those between animal and human, family and community, ancestral tradition and contemporary life. It offers, through Logan, her horses, her family and her Nation, a portrait of radiant heroism.
After the film, Logan will appear via Zoom from her home in Canada for conversation and Q&A.
HEALING OF THE DRAGONFLY
(13 min.)
Joe Pulliam, an accomplished Oglala Lakota ledger artist from South Dakota, uses his art to heal himself from generational traumas and addiction, to express his activism, and to offer inspiration to his people. Joe will join us in person for this event. A selection of his prints and original work will be on display and available for purchase in the lobby.
MYLO
(17 min.)
Mylo Fowler grew up on the Navajo (Dine) Reservation, raised by its red dirt and wild horses. But after a spiritual elder’s prophecy upends his entire vision of the future, Mylo enters the unknown to discover his rightful place in the world. This film features amazing cinematography of wild horses in their natural habitat in the Southwest.
