Renowned political analyst and commentator Ken Rudin shares his perspective on the changing landscape in Washington DC. Mr. Rudin is one of America’s foremost experts in politics and campaign history. He hosts the weekly podcast Political Junkie in which he explores policy debates, campaign strategies, and political news with the newsmakers at the center of the story. With over 30 years of experience in political journalism, Ken offers a unique perspective on today’s most pressing issues. Mr. Rudin will be joined by Breeze Richardson, Executive Director of Aspen Public Radio.

The event is part of the new Mountain Perspectives Speaker Series presented with The Sopris Sun. This dynamic series aims to inform, inspire, and foster change. 

About Ken Rudin

Rudin spent eight years from 1983 to 1991 at ABC News, where he was the deputy political director and producer on Capitol Hill. He was also managing editor of The Hotline from 1994 to 1997. He was the political editor for National Public Radio (NPR) and was involved with political news on various NPR programs. Rudin also co-hosted a weekly podcast called It’s All Politics, a segment called “The Political Junkie” on the NPR program Talk of the Nation, and wrote a column of the same name for npr.org. Since leaving NPR, Ken hosts the Ken Rudin’s Political Junkie podcast, and is a contributor to many local NPR stations. Ken is also a columnist for USA TODAY, and contributes to a other publications. During the 1960s, Rudin began collecting campaign buttons; he now has a collection of more than 70,000 campaign items.

Breeze joined the Aspen Public Radio team in June 2021. Highly-respected in public media for her strategic planning and communications background, she has a passion for telling stories and producing community-focused programming.

Since arriving in the Roaring Fork Valley, Breeze has been on stage exploring disability and inclusion with 1A’s Jenn White, discussing the importance of local journalism for Aspen Institute’s Society of Fellows, and in conversation with Tockukwu OkaforDr. Bessel van der Kolk, and 2023 Aspen Words Literary Prize winner Jamil Jan Kochai for Aspen Words. In February 2023, she took the stage at the Wheeler Opera House with NPR’s Ailsa Chang to lead a conversation about making big career changes, representation in media, and the impact of investigative journalism; and most recently she sat down with NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly for Aspen Words.
