ABOUT A Rocky Mountain Christmas: A John Denver Tribute Featuring Mack Bailey
Genre: TRIBUTE / HOLIDAY
Mack Bailey is a nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter who is gaining an ever-larger audience with his strong, expressive classically trained tenor voice, with an impressive range and pure clean quality. In early 2004, he became a new member of the world-renowned legendary folk trio, The Limeliters, a beloved group that has entertained audiences all over the world for 49 years. He left the group in 2011 to pursue his master’s in music therapy from Colorado State University. As a member of The Hard Travelers and “Tribute to John Denver” productions, Mack has sung with dozens of folk and country stars. Using John Denver’s music, Mack taught himself to play the guitar and John’s example taught him how to sing a song. It was a thrill for Mack when he had the privilege of trading verses live to “Thank God, I’m a Country Boy” with Denver just before John’s death. Mack lives in Aspen with his wife and son and founded a national nonprofit, Music Therapy Retreats, serving veterans and survivors of trauma through music.
Randall Utterback, a multi-instrumentalist hails from southwest Iowa. Randall had the opportunity to check out Aspen and moved to the area in 1995. He’s been working with several different bands in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond including projects with Jimmy Ibbotson, Richie Furay, Russel Smith and the Amazing Rhythm Aces, Buck Trent from Hee Haw. Over the years he has had the opportunity to open shows for the likes of John Conlee, Asleep at the Wheel, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt and many others. In 1998 he had the opportunity to play the main stage at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
You can always hear him play guitar, fiddle and mandolin with a Dobro added on some occasions. He now makes his home in Paonia, Colorado.
Mike Facey is a multi-instrumentalist living in the Roaring Fork Valley. He is a member of William H Macy’s band and teaches music.
