Alive + Birds of Play + More events!
Hi, everybody. Snow. Snow. Snow. In the interest of brevity, I am going to get right to it. You still have time to come down tonight for Alive: A New Kind of Nightlife. Our friends from Aspen Shakti will get your heart pumping and booty moving. Doors at 6:00. It is all sweaty smiles leaving the theater after these. This Saturday, we have Birds of Play and The Red Hill Rollers in for a solid night of roots music. Did you see Jacqueline’s article in the Aspen Daily News? Alex Paul gets us. He really does. What about the new stuff, you ask? Here are four new reasons to come see us. • February 28 – Colorado Shakespeare Festival Violence Prevention Program – We welcome CSF’s live performance program in partnership with Aspen Art Museum. Families are encouraged to attend together so students can improve their Shakespeare literacy and learn intervention strategies when they see mistreatment happening. • March 9 – Jake Blount & Kaia Kater – These artists landed on my must-book list during AmericanaFest. Two compelling people with SO much talent. We are fortunate they are kicking off their tour with us. A terrific evening of roots music. Here is Jake covering a Lead Belly song. Here is a Kaia song. • March 17 – St. Paddy’s Day Bash with The Confluents – We are overdue for a visit from our friends, The Confluents. What better time than one of the premiere party days of the year? Good friends, good music, green clothes, and certainly drink specials. • July 17 – Bonnie “Prince” Billy – Musician, actor, and children’s book writer Will Oldham is coming to TACAW!!!! Can you believe it? This is one of those listening room shows that I love so much. Here he is covering a Grateful Dead song that the Dead only played live a few times. I hope you appreciate the song suggestions above and they provide a jumping-off point to explore all three artists. Feel free to return the favor if you’ve been listening to something you would like to share. Reply to this email with a link, as I feel like Nikki Lane and I could use a little time apart. |
