First Birthday & October Events
Hi, everybody.
We are fired up about our birthday celebration on September 23 & 24. We hope you will join us for The Motet, Jon Cleary, and more! Once you get your tickets to that, check out our October calendar. We’ve added an opera performance in a pretty cool collaboration with the Art Base and a forum on the Arts + Environmental Sustainability in another pretty cool collaboration with Colorado Business Committee for the Arts. We also just announced two of our October traditions. Pumpkin Jazz is back with headliners, Ted Piltzecker Septet, in what is a pretty cool collaboration with the Basalt Public Arts Commission. More information on additional acts and locations at Pumpkin Jazz to follow. Stay tuned!
Speaking of pretty cool collaborations, Voices and TACAW are proud to present the Queer Voices Theater Project. A Green Bird on Orange Trees features seven local queer artists using movement, live music, spoken word, and the power of myth and imagination to weave together personal stories of queerness and the complexities of knowing, loving, and being oneself. This important project will be presented on October 21, 22 & 23.
If you know Ryan Honey at all, you know the guy lives for 3 things – family, community, and Halloween. In his honor, we are taking the Halloween Bash up a notch this year. We are excited to welcome MarchFourth back to the Valley for a chaotic evening of Halloween magic. As always, learn more about all of our events at the bottom of this email.
I won’t be here next week to remind you of our final film in the 5Point Summer Series (a pretty cool collaboration, right?) or our 2nd Drag Show featuring the Roaring Divas. As sad as I am to miss both of these events, I am going to be enjoying some time with my lovely sister in Texas before a trip to an Americana conference in Nashville. If you are curious, I will be maintaining a playlist of all the acts I see there. I started it with the folks who I know are performing at the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, but I expect some other VERY pleasant surprises. Music discovery is, um, pretty cool.
Don’t forget about our birthday weekend September 23 & 24. We’d love you to help celebrate our very successful first year!
Best,
Kendall Smith
