Cross that river &
new shows announced
Hi, everybody.
Did you make it here for the party that was Con Brio? The band really brought it on Friday and our friend from The Temporary days, Sarah Clarke, sang her heart out. Such a fun night!
This week, we are all about Allan Harris and Cross That River. We jumped at the opportunity to host this special concert event for two evenings. Mr. Harris and his eight band members will lead us on a musical journey telling an oft-overlooked aspect of the American West – the black cowboy. The band uses incredible musicianship, amazing vocals, and excellent storytelling to create an entertaining and impactful evening. Get those tickets HERE.
Beyond this weekend, we have improv, a dance film with an artist talkback, and psychedelic cumbia on the books. We also added a couple of May concerts with faces who are familiar to me that I think you should get to know.
- May 13th we welcome Covenhoven. Joel Van Horne’s special kind of indie-folk is a treat. His new record, IV, is a bit more energetic than previous releases, but it still lives in his self-described, “contemplative and vibey” world.
- May 28th brings us Esmé Patterson. You might remember Esmé from the indie-folk band Paper Bird. I like to remember her from the all-female party band, Harpoon Tang. Seriously. SO. MUCH. FUN. She has released four solo records that provide ample proof of her songwriting and vocal prowess. The unique Woman to Woman contains songs written from the perspectives of women immortalized in classic songs. Her latest release, There Will Come Soft Rains, escorted me to Marble one recent afternoon. A lovely driving companion for sure.
This is where I remind you to enjoy the delicious food at TABL, our new cafe. Join us for lunch 11:30-2:30 Tuesday thru Friday and 5:00-7:00 on Friday for Tapas. And, this is where I remind you we have a Spotify playlist where you can sample artists coming to TACAW. Dig in at both!
See you on this side of the River!
Best,
Kendall Smith
