Parker Millsap + Film + Comedy
Hi, everybody!
Welp. This is where I finally accept audience participation in the world of email newsletters as a Quixotic enterprise. I received nary a suggestion for building a community of aurally adventurous souls. That’s ok. I’ve tilted at many windmills in my day. For instance, there was the time I tried to book an Eddie Vedder ukelele concert (yes, that’s a real thing) in my early UMS days. I gave up on Eddie, but I’m not giving up on you. Here is a Tiny Desk concert by Jenny and the Mexicats.
Here is what is left for us this week.
- Thursday, June 8 – Parker Millsap – Parker is finally going to be in the house! It’s not too late to join us. HERE is a lovely duet with our GALA headliner Sarah Jurosz.
- Friday, June 9 – What the Hell Happened to Blood Sweat & Tears? – A film about a rock band that was on top of the world until a seven-date concert tour behind the Iron Curtain. Cancel culture isn’t a new phenomenon.
- Saturday, June 10 – Comedian Shane Torres – I’m still all about this bit defending Guy Fieri.
We’ve added a couple more events to the calendar:
- July 28 – Sullivan Fortner Trio – A terrific evening of Jazz by this GRAMMY Award-winning artist out of New Orleans. The is a dinner option for this event as well.
- September 30 – Tony Furtado – Singer. Songwriter. Virtuoso musician. This will be a special evening of music. You have to love a guy who the Beverly Hillbillies inspired to pick up the banjo.
I’m really stoked about our Thursday thru Saturday programs this week. If you’ve read this far and want to join me for one or all, reply to this email and I might just hook you up.
