Hi, everybody.

They power-washed our garage this week. That can only mean summer is right around the corner. To say I’m ready is an understatement. To say I have a vast collection of neglected bicycles is also an understatement. It is a joyous thing to knock the dust off them for easy transportation to the Basalt Public Pool. While I am in understatement mode, our summer programming is shaping up nicely. We’ve plenty to announce in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, check out these awesome happenings before summer officially begins (June 21).

  • Saturday, May 13 – Local Comedy Showcase – It is time for Ryan to prove that where funny is concerned, his looks aren’t everything. He is positively giddy about hosting his local comedian friends. Come on out and support these comics who are building a scene in our valley. Tickets HERE.
  • Wednesday, May 17 – Equity Speaker Series ft. Full Circle Strategies – Our partners at Manaus.org are bringing in some terrific folks to do multiple days of work. At TACAW, will discuss how to facilitate race equity work and dialogue with a cultural humility lens. I can’t wait for this important conversation. RSVP HERE.
  • Saturday, May 20 – Motors on Midland at Willits – While we are a temporary solution until the construction downtown is complete, we are happy to surround the campus with cool cars and host this party benefitting Basalt Education Foundation. It starts at 4 pm. More info HERE.
  • Saturday, May 20 (also) – Derek Brown Band – What kind of hosts would we be if we didn’t provide some music for the Motors party? We convinced these Aspen faves to come down valley. This free show starts right after Motors at 7 pm. More info HERE.

These events snuck onto our calendar this week. Sorry about the short notice, but they are all worth a little schedule juggling.

  • Tuesday, May 24 – Author Talk with Writer in Residence Jean Chen Ho  – Our dear friends at Aspen Words are back with another compelling event. The author will be joined by the host of the podcast First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing, Mitzi Rapkin. Learn more HERE.
  • Wednesday, May 31 – Protect the Dolores Film Tour – The new film, The River of Sorrows, from Rig to Flip  will be followed by a conversation about the Dolores River. This is a free event. RSVP HERE.
  • Saturday, June 3 – Salsa Night – Salsa with a live band is back! Our friends at Mezcla Socials Dance and the band Orchestra la Brava promise to bring the dance party. Tickets and more info HERE.

That’s enough for now, I have some bikes to clean. See you soon!
