Winter Words, Honky Tonkin + New Shows

Hi everybody,

How was your Valentine’s Day? Ours was HILARIOUS. Kara and Jared brought the funny to a roomful of lovers. We appreciate their effort to get here from LA. They got a taste of mountain living. Speaking of taste, this whole dinner plus a show thing we have going on is pretty special. You should check one out soon. Or, try Supper Club next week. Fair warning: these do sell out.

No dinners this week, but we have a couple of great nights planned

  • Tonight – Aspen Words brings their Winter Words program down valley. Acclaimed children’s author, Kwame Alexander, will discuss his career and most recent young adult novel, The Door of No Return. Tickets are still available HERE.
  • Friday – Honky Tonkin’ with the Hugh Phillips Band. It’s been a while since we held a honky tonk night. Live music, a large dance floor, and friendly folks. What more do you need? Cold drinks you say? We’ve got those, too!

I’m excited to share three new concerts with you. These evenings will be filled with incredible songs, top-notch musicianship, and outstanding vocals. We already have Martin Sexton (about to sell out),  Jake Blount & Kaia KaterJackie GreeneJohn McCutcheon, and Bonnie Prince Billy on the books. These next three are going to be right at home with these

  • April 28 – Haley Heynderickx w/ Special Guests – She has a unique voice, insightful lyrics, and a captivating musical style.
  • June 7 – Parker Millsap – Another unique voice with incredible guitar skills, and thought-provoking songwriting.
  • July 21 – Andrew Duhon – I first caught Andrew at the end of a very long day at Americanafest in Nashville. I am so glad it took that extra Uber. His soulful voice and roots-inspired sound made me promise myself to get him to Basalt. Thanks, me!

If you don’t know some of the nine folks I just mentioned, I am certain your curiosity will be well rewarded. Last week I shared a playlist of artists I saw in Kansas City. There was a particular record that stuck with me and got a lot of extra playing time this week. Les Hay Babies are fashionable New Brunswick Canadian women who wrote a lovely record based on a box of letters they found in an old house. I don’t speak French, but Boîte aux Lettres sounds so good.

I know that was a lot, but we are doing A LOT. Looking forward to seeing you at 400 Robinson.
