Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction\, non-fiction\, essay\, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work. \n\n\n\nABOUT DOGGEREL \n\n\n\nDoggerel is a majestic new volume of poetry that marks a transformative stage in his life and career. This resplendent tableau ruminates on dogs and the ostensibly trivial joys that transform us—peonies blooming\, a “symphony” of wine glasses\, father-son bike rides\, basketball\, seeing and being seen\, surrendering to a lover’s touch. Channeling dogs both literally and metaphorically\, these poems trace everything from the companionship of Betts’s own Jack Russell Terrier to the ways we are dogged by our deepest desires for connection\, love\, and repair. \n\n\n\nABOUT REGINALD DWAYNE BETTS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReginald Dwayne Betts is a poet and lawyer. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow\, he is the Executive Director of Freedom Reads\, a not-for-profit organization that is radically transforming the access to literature in prisons through the installation of Freedom Libraries in prisons across this country. For more than twenty-years\, he has used his poetry and essays to explore the world of prison and the effects of violence and incarceration on American society. He has been awarded a Radcliffe Fellowship from Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study\, a Guggenheim Fellowship\, an Emerson Fellow at New America\, and most recently a Civil Society Fellow at Aspen. Along with great songwriting\, Kilby’s unique approach to the blues features unconventional instrumentation\, often using accordion and baritone sax. Added to the mix are influences from country music\, Professor Longhair\, and the Allman Brothers. As well\, evidence of George’s 20 years with the legendary Pinetop Perkins always show up in his repertoire. In a recent review\, Jamband’s.com says: “It’s a cool showcase for Kilby’s fingerpicking work – but pay attention to the words. One trademark of Kilby’s originals is the use of a deceptively down-to-earth approach to lay some deeper-than-you-may-think wisdom on the table.”  His recent collaborations with members of the Jamgrass phenomenon Railroad Earth and the late harmonica wizard Phil Wiggins add to the depth of his sound. George has taken his music from the road-houses of the Southeast to New York City and on to the major music festivals of Europe. His sound has been called everything from New Orleans R&B to Alternative Country. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:00 pm / DOORS @ 5:30 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

Not just spiritually but actually and tangibly linked to Grateful Dead history\, the band’s music shares shelf space with post-rock\, psych-rock\, jazz-funk\, and good old fashioned psychedelia\, while their recorded output has included collaborations with such diverse luminaries as Joe Russo\, Billy Strings and Mikaela Davis. Original instrumentals form the bedrock of CATS’ live show\, taking fans on a whole different journey every time. \n\n\n\nAfter Sunrise\, the new collaboration from Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis reunites the disco cosmonauts and acclaimed harpist for further explorations of the synergy first showcased on the title track of CATS’ 2023 album\, Language. \n\n\n\nComprised of two new original compositions\, ‘Gloaming Way’ and ‘Moonbow’\, and an inspired interpretation of Brazilian legend Sérgio Mendes’ ‘After Sunrise\,’ the album features the first appearance of vocals on a Circles Around The Sun recording\, sung by Davis. A live take on‘Language’ rounds out the second side and brings the pairing full circle. \n\n\n\nOnce the endless night of the discotheque finally gives way to morning light\, you may find yourself seaside as the sun peeks over the horizon. As the party rolls through the dawn and into the day\, thisis the soundtrack. \n\n\n\nThis is After Sunrise. If it’s nice\, play it twice. \n\n\n\nMeet the CATS: \n\n\n\n\nAdam MacDougall (keys)\n\n\n\nDan Horne (bass)\n\n\n\nJohn Lee Shannon (guitar)\n\n\n\nMark Levy (drums)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits
