She has been seen on stages throughout the United States and Europe as both a soloist and a member of internationally recognized ensembles\, giving performances ranging from baroque concerts to world premiere operas. Her voice has been hailed as “opulent and rich”\, with a particular temerity suited for Italian operatic literature. \n\n\n\nKira Dills-DeSurra\, Mezzo-SopranoKira Dills-DeSurra is a vibrant American mezzo-soprano whose magnetic stage presence communicates effortless charm and truth. Hailed as a nuanced singer and talented comedic stage actress (San Diego Union-Tribune) Kira cultivates skills in musical improvisation and circus arts as part of her broad-ranging palate of storytelling tools. She is champion of new and rarely performed works and has appeared in many American premieres. She also cultivates skills in musical improvisation and circus arts as part of her broad-ranging palate of storytelling tools. \n\n\n\nJessica Nilles Kressin\, Piano \n\n\n\nJessica Nilles Kressin\, Piano \n\n\n\nJessica Nilles Kressin\, a native of Webster City\, Iowa\, did her doctoral work in Piano Performance at the University of Colorado Boulder. \n\n\n\nCollaborative performances have been an important addition to Jessica’s musicianship. She has performed with many instrumentalists and singers\, including Simon Estes\, with whom she performed at the White House and in his “Roots & Wings” tour across the state of Iowa. In 2018\, Jessica performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with other Wartburg faculty. Currently she is part of Duo Azure with soprano Ekaterina Kotcherguina\, with whom she competed in Lyon\, France in the Concours international de musique de chambre de Lyon. \n\n\n\nShe has extensive experience as an opera rehearsal pianist and coach\, currently serving as music director and pianist at Breaking Glass Arts\, a small immersive opera company based in Denver. He returns to the Valley with a stellar four-horn septet of Colorado’s finest players that is poised to blow the roof off. Using movement\, live music\, spoken word\, and the power of myth and imagination\, this ensemble weaves together personal stories of queerness and the complexities of knowing\, loving\, and being oneself in a world of external pressures and expectations. To create this performance\, each artist has unraveled hidden fibers of themselves\, generously offering up humor\, pain\, and joy as common threads– an invitation for you to gently pull and be pulled. \n\n\n\nTickets are $25 with Pay What You Can Options Available. DESCRIPTION:Queer VOICES Theater Project\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:30PM | DOORS @ 6:30PM \n\n\n\n$25 or  Pay What You Can Options Available \n\n\n\nSeated Show \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT “A Green Bird On Orange Trees” a Queer VOICES Theater Project \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVOICES and TACAW proudly partner to present the original theater production\, “A Green Bird On Orange Trees” a Queer VOICES Theater Project created by seven local queer artists. Using movement\, live music\, spoken word\, and the power of myth and imagination\, this ensemble weaves together personal stories of queerness and the complexities of knowing\, loving\, and being oneself in a world of external pressures and expectations. To create this performance\, each artist has unraveled hidden fibers of themselves\, generously offering up humor\, pain\, and joy as common threads– an invitation for you to gently pull and be pulled. \n\n\n\nTickets are $25 with Pay What You Can Options Available. First 50 tickets sold receive a free drink ticket\, and all Saturday night ticket holders are invited to join the cast for a DJ after party\, generously brought to you by AspenOut. \n\n\n\nQ & A WITH CAST & CREW | Friday\, October 21: A post-performance Q & A with the cast and crew\, moderated by Halle Zander\, host of All Things Considered on Aspen Public Radio.  \n\n\n\nAFTER PARTY CELEBRATION | Saturday\, October 22: After party with the Cast & Crew at TACAW\, with a DJ set by “The Guest\,” aka Simon Klein. Generously hosted by AspenOut! Open to ALL Saturday ticket holders. \n\n\n\nPRE-SHOW ACTIVATION | Sunday\, October 23: Join Gay4Good & AspenOUT before the performance for a special activity.
