Our hearts mend\, our political and philosophical differences melt away\, and the various strains of our roots music entangle. Of Sexton\, The New York Times says: “His unpretentious heartiness helps him focus on every soul singer’s goal: to amplify the sound of the ordinary heart.” \n\n\n\nSexton has remained true to his mission of sharing peace and harmony throughout his 10 albums\, and in countless incendiary live performances. He has thus built a loyal following of fans\, including critics and superstar artists. He is without a doubt what Billboard calls: “The real thing.” \n\n\n\nThese days\, people are coming together to revel in Sexton’s musicality for his Martin Sexton Abbey Road Show. This is a live show extravaganza in which he performs the iconic Beatles’ album in its entirety followed by a set of mainly original music. Currently\, Sexton is also working on his 11th album\, which will be his first full-length album in 10 years. \n\n\n\nSexton is a songwriter’s songwriter\, with a multi-octave voice that knows no bounds. Acoustic Guitar Magazine calls him a: “Master of dynamics\, reducing a room to silence with his blustering baritone\, then teasing that silence with a fluttering falsetto.” \n\n\n\nSexton’s career in music has unfolded like the stories in one of his sweetly redemptive songs. He got his start busking on streets and performing at open mics. Since then\, he has gone on to be praised by modern legends such as John Mayer and Dave Matthews\, who calls him one of his favorite singer- songwriters. Sexton’s songs of grappling and gratitude were the soundtrack to John Mayer’s early gigging years\, and made an indelible impact on the budding songwriter. Mayer says: “This is the music of my LIFE.” Sexton has headlined venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall\, and his msongs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs\, Parenthood\, Masters of Sex\, and in numerous films. His dynamically emotive live show has earned him critical raves and an engaged and loyal following. The Wall Street Journal says: “Mr. Sexton as an impassioned performer can bring women and men to tears when they see him live.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW / 18+ (All ages must be accompanied by a legal guardian)\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

Melvin is most revered for his powerful\, high-spirited\, Hammond B-3 organ\, and keyboards in the Jerry Garcia Band. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become “Jam Band Music”. From blues to funk to rock to jazz\, Melvin Seals serves up a tasty mix with a little R&B and gospel thrown in to spice things up.  \n\n\n\nMelvin and JGB bring an intuitive\, expressive style\, soul\, spontaneity and remarkable chops to the table. John Kadlecik on lead guitar and vocal duties\, John-Paul McLean’s savory bass\, Jeremy Hoenig on the drums and\, of course\, a heapin’ helpin’ of the wizard’s magic on Hammond B-3 Organ and keyboards. Their chemistry is the focus from which they create a spontaneous and high art where the sky is the limit musically. They offer an exciting\, often psychedelic musical journey that changes nightly and keeps the audience dancing and smiling (and some staring in amazement) for hours.  \n\n\n\nAdding his rock-gospel-soul-rhythm and blues touch with his funky style of playing\, no wonder Jerry nicknamed him “Master of the Universe”. Melvin continues to treat music lovers to his unique brand of melodic flavor with JGB. Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction\, non-fiction\, essay\, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work. \n\n\n\nABOUT IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD \n\n\n\nIt’s 2044 and life is bleak for many Americans\, but not for Mason Daunt. Safe in his Los Angeles mansion\, Mason can remain blissfully unaware of the relentless wildfires engulfing California\, the proliferation of violent right-wing militias\, and the rampant authoritarianism destroying American society. He’s so rich\, in fact\, that he and his partner Yunho Kim are throwing a 100-person\, $100\,000 baby shower to celebrate their newborn-on-the-way. When a potentially apocalyptic event hits Los Angeles on the day of their celebration\, though\, the wealthy gay couple refuses to cancel their party. Surely it’s not the end of the world? But as Mason runs a few last-minute errands\, a staggering twist thrusts him into the mounting chaos\, and threatens the lives of everyone he holds dear. \n\n\n\nShot through with biting wit\, brutal gore\, primal sex\, and unexpected catharsis\, It’s Not the End of the World is a nerve-shredding roller coaster of a novel that will leave readers shocked\, heartbroken\, and inspired to question their most firmly held convictions. What happens when our current battles with climate change\, capitalism\, and white supremacy are pushed to their breaking points? And how can we find hope? \n\n\n\nABOUT JONATHAN PARKS-RAMAGE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJonathan Parks-Ramage is a Los Angeles based novelist\, playwright\, screenwriter and journalist. His critically acclaimed debut novel YES\, DADDY (HarperCollins) was named one of the best queer books of 2021 by Entertainment Weekly\, NBC News\, The Advocate\, Lambda Literary\, Bustle\, Goodreads and more. YES\, DADDY was also optioned for television by Amazon Studios. He was the co-creator of the recent Off-Broadway musical THE BIG GAY JAMBOREE and was nominated for a Lucille Lortel award and Drama Desk Award. \n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about Jonathan Parks-Ramage: WEBSITE / INSTAGRAM \n\n\n\nABOUT MITZI RAPKIN \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMitzi Rapkin is the founder\, host and producer of the literary podcast\, “First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing\,” which features a new author interview each week. Not just spiritually but actually and tangibly linked to Grateful Dead history\, the band’s music shares shelf space with post-rock\, psych-rock\, jazz-funk\, and good old fashioned psychedelia\, while their recorded output has included collaborations with such diverse luminaries as Joe Russo\, Billy Strings and Mikaela Davis. Original instrumentals form the bedrock of CATS’ live show\, taking fans on a whole different journey every time. \n\n\n\nAfter Sunrise\, the new collaboration from Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis reunites the disco cosmonauts and acclaimed harpist for further explorations of the synergy first showcased on the title track of CATS’ 2023 album\, Language. \n\n\n\nComprised of two new original compositions\, ‘Gloaming Way’ and ‘Moonbow’\, and an inspired interpretation of Brazilian legend Sérgio Mendes’ ‘After Sunrise\,’ the album features the first appearance of vocals on a Circles Around The Sun recording\, sung by Davis. A live take on‘Language’ rounds out the second side and brings the pairing full circle. \n\n\n\nOnce the endless night of the discotheque finally gives way to morning light\, you may find yourself seaside as the sun peeks over the horizon. As the party rolls through the dawn and into the day\, thisis the soundtrack. \n\n\n\nThis is After Sunrise. If it’s nice\, play it twice. \n\n\n\nMeet the CATS: \n\n\n\n\nAdam MacDougall (keys)\n\n\n\nDan Horne (bass)\n\n\n\nJohn Lee Shannon (guitar)\n\n\n\nMark Levy (drums)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

This special member appreciation and fundraising event combines live music\, local flavor\, and the spirit of independent media — all in one night under the lights. \n\n\n\nGeorge Kilby Jr. brings his signature Americana blues sound to TACAW’s stage for an intimate performance you won’t want to miss. Born in Alabama and forged in the NYC blues scene of the ’80s and ’90s\, Kilby spent decades performing alongside legendary Pinetop Perkins\, the famed pianist for Muddy Waters. Now based in New Orleans with strong ties to upstate New York\, his music is as seasoned as it is soulful. \n\n\n\nExpect small bites\, yard games\, a silent auction\, and the kind of storytelling and rhythm that keep this valley vibrant. Proceeds support the Aspen Daily News Journalism Fund — helping keep local news truly local and free. \n\n\n\nCome for the blues. Stay for the news. Leave with your faith in journalism restored. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT GEORGE KILBY\, JR.\n\n\n\nGenre: Roots Rock / Americana / BLUES \n\n\n\nWEBSITE \n\n\n\nGeorge Kilby Jr. was born in Alabama; and the sounds of the South have never left him. Roots-Rock or Americana fit well enough\, but the band has a sound all its own. Along with great songwriting\, Kilby’s unique approach to the blues features unconventional instrumentation\, often using accordion and baritone sax. Added to the mix are influences from country music\, Professor Longhair\, and the Allman Brothers. As well\, evidence of George’s 20 years with the legendary Pinetop Perkins always show up in his repertoire. In a recent review\, Jamband’s.com says: “It’s a cool showcase for Kilby’s fingerpicking work – but pay attention to the words. One trademark of Kilby’s originals is the use of a deceptively down-to-earth approach to lay some deeper-than-you-may-think wisdom on the table.”  His recent collaborations with members of the Jamgrass phenomenon Railroad Earth and the late harmonica wizard Phil Wiggins add to the depth of his sound. George has taken his music from the road-houses of the Southeast to New York City and on to the major music festivals of Europe. His sound has been called everything from New Orleans R&B to Alternative Country. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:00 pm / DOORS @ 5:30 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction\, non-fiction\, essay\, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work. \n\n\n\nABOUT DOGGEREL \n\n\n\nDoggerel is a majestic new volume of poetry that marks a transformative stage in his life and career. This resplendent tableau ruminates on dogs and the ostensibly trivial joys that transform us—peonies blooming\, a “symphony” of wine glasses\, father-son bike rides\, basketball\, seeing and being seen\, surrendering to a lover’s touch. Channeling dogs both literally and metaphorically\, these poems trace everything from the companionship of Betts’s own Jack Russell Terrier to the ways we are dogged by our deepest desires for connection\, love\, and repair. \n\n\n\nABOUT REGINALD DWAYNE BETTS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReginald Dwayne Betts is a poet and lawyer. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow\, he is the Executive Director of Freedom Reads\, a not-for-profit organization that is radically transforming the access to literature in prisons through the installation of Freedom Libraries in prisons across this country. For more than twenty-years\, he has used his poetry and essays to explore the world of prison and the effects of violence and incarceration on American society. The author of a memoir and four collections of poetry.   \n\n\n\n\n\nHe transformed American Book Award winning memoir Felon\, into a solo theater show that explores the post incarceration experience and lingering consequences of a criminal record through poetry\, stories\, and engaging with the timeless and transcendental art of paper-making. In 2019\, Betts won the National Magazine Award in the Essays and Criticism category for his NY Times Magazine essay that chronicles his journey from prison to becoming a licensed attorney. He has been awarded a Radcliffe Fellowship from Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study\, a Guggenheim Fellowship\, an Emerson Fellow at New America\, and most recently a Civil Society Fellow at Aspen. Betts holds a J.D. from Yale Law School. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Reginald Dwayne Betts: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM \n\n\n\nABOUT MITZI RAPKIN \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMitzi Rapkin is the founder\, host and producer of the literary podcast\, “First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing\,” which features a new author interview each week. She has interviewed more than 500 contemporary writers of fiction\, nonfiction\, essays\, and poetry over the past eleven years. Her conversations explore essential questions about what it means to be human alongside the craft of writing and the themes of the writers’ works.
