SUMMARY:The DonJuans
DESCRIPTION:The DonJuans\n\n\n\nW/ Mark Nussmeier \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors 7:00pm / Show 8:00pm \n\n\n\nFREE W/ RSVP \n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW / ALL AGES \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE / RSVP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT JON VEZNER\n\n\n\nGrammy award-winning songwriter\, Nashville-based Jon Vezner is a tunesmith of raresensitivity and dry wit. His catalogue of recorded songs\, topped by the poignant “Where’ve YouBeen\,” reflects his straight-to-the-heart sensibility and emotional awareness. Vezner weaves theparticulars of his own feelings with the lives of people he has known into universal themes thatdeeply touch listeners’ emotions. \n\n\n\nVezner was honored with a Grammy for “Best Country Song” and the Nashville SongwritersAssociation “Song of the Year” in 1990\, for “Where’ve You Been” — the true story of Vezner’sgrandparents — co-written with Don Henry\, and recorded by Kathy Mattea. “Where’ve YouBeen” was also honored as “Song of the Year” by the Country Music Association (CMA) and theAcademy of Country Music (ACM). Jon was also voted “Songwriter of the Year” by the NashvilleSongwriters Association International. \n\n\n\nBorn in Minnesota\, Jon Vezner began his musical career as lead singer and bassist for variousgroups in high school\, going on to earn a B.A. degree in music education and music theory atMinnesota Southwest State University in the mid ′70s. \n\n\n\nJon’s catalogue of songs reads like a songbook itself\, interpreted and recorded by some of thegreats in the business such as Martina McBride\, Reba McEntire\, Faith Hill\, Steve Wariner\, TheWiggins\, Clay Walker\, Diamond Rio\, BJ Thomas\, Janis Ian\, John Mellencamp\, Nancy Griffith\,Judy Collins\, and Native American recording artist\, Bill Miller\, to name a few.Jon’s production credits include artists such as Danny O’Keefe\, Victoria Shaw\, and singinglegend Patti Page. \n\n\n\n“Jon Vezner writes about the details\, the details of our hearts and feelings. His gift is in speakingto these ordinary things which connect us to one another. And in recognizing their simplebeauty\, he transforms them into something extraordinary.”— Mary-Chapin Carpenter \n\n\n\nABOUT DON HENRY\n\n\n\nIn Morgan Hill\, California in the early 70’s\, records like “The Band” by The Band and “Honky Chateau” by Elton John prompted Don Henry to begin writing his own lyrics to Jim Croce melodies. Then he learned to play guitar with a Paul Simon songbook. After that it was an education in The Beatles\, Cat Stevens\, Harry Nilsson\, Carole King\, Cat Stevens\, and Joni Mitchell. \n\n\n\nThen Randy Newman’s ‘Good Old Boys’ and ‘Old Number One’ by Guy Clark changed his life. In April of 1979\, at 19\, Don made his way to Nashville. \n\n\n\nAfter spending 4 years as the tape copy/librarian for Tree Publishing Company\, cataloging some of the best songs by some of the best songwriters in Nashville (Sonny Throckmorton\, Bobby Braddock\, Harlan Howard\, and Curly Putman)\, Don’s own songs started getting recorded and he was moved to full-time staff songwriter. Ray Charles\, Conway Twitty\, the Oak Ridge Boys\, T.G. Sheppard\, John Conlee and Kathy Mattea are just a few who recorded Don’s songs during this period. \n\n\n\nIn 1990\, Don and Jon Vezner received song of the year awards for co-writing Mattea’s critically acclaimed hit\, “Where’ve You Been”. Awards from the Grammys\, as well as from the Academy of Country Music\, the Country Music Association\, and the Nashville Songwriters Association International culminated it “Where’ve You Been” becoming the first song ever to be so honored by all four organizations. \n\n\n\nIn 1991 “Wild In The Backyard” was released on Sony/Epic Records. Billboard’s Ken Schlager chose the debut album as one of 1991’s Top Ten records\, as did Larry McClain of BAM magazine. Rolling Stone liked it enough to profile Don in their “New Faces” column. \n\n\n\nSince\, Don’s songs have been recorded by Lonestar\, Rosie Flores\, The Thompson Brothers Band\, Bryan White\, and Blake Shelton. A 2001 release\, “Flowers and Rockets”\, was followed quickly by “Live At The Bluebird Café”. \n\n\n\nIn 2013 Miranda Lambert had a hit with Don and Phillip Coleman’s song “All Kinds Of Kinds”. \n\n\n\nAt Don’s shows\, you’ll easily spot those who have yet to hear his songs. Upon first experiencing them\, the listener is often moved to laughter or tears\, sometimes both at the same time! And everyone leaves humming\, because Don Henry songs stay with you. \n\n\n\n“The crowd was won over by this guy and his guitar. Long may he write.” Dirty Linen  \n\n\n\nABOUT MARK NUSSMEIER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBased in Aspen\, CO\, Mark represents a modern take on the one-man band. Drawing on his experience as vocalist / guitarist for Hurricane Carter as well as Opera House Arson\, his solo material centers on rootsy\, soulful rock while exploring extended loop-based compositions and layering multiple instruments live. Lesser known covers accentuate his original material in an eclectic\, engaging set. Between holding residencies at local landmarks like The Red Onion and Aspen Brewing Co.\, along with multiple performances at the legendary Belly Up Aspen\, he’s also shared the stage with artists such as Lukas Nelson\, Perpetual Groove\, Greyhounds\, Hayes Carll\, Adrian Belew\, The Stone Foxes\, Musketeer Gripweed\, Devon Allman\, South Of France\, and ALO. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW / ALL AGEs\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Tom Paxton & The DonJuans\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCANCELLED \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile This show is cancelled\, we invite you to join us to see the don juans for free \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT An Evening with Tom Paxton & The DonJuans\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Acoustic Guitar \n\n\n\nTom Paxton has just announced that this will be his last tour. Don’t miss your final opportunity to see this living legend live with his friends\, the DonJuans. Collectively\, their songs have been covered by: Harry Belafonte\, John Mellencamp\, Miranda Lambert\, Neil Diamond\, Ray Charles\, Nancy Griffith\, Judy Collins\, Pete Seeger\, Janis Ian\, Kathy Mattea\, John Denver\, Faith Hill\, B.J. Thomas\, Blake Shelton\, Peter\, Paul & Mary and Bob Dylan… just to name a few! Within days of writing and playing together\, they knew they were onto something. Now they’re taking it on the road one last time. \n\n\n\nTOM PAXTON \n\n\n\nAfter 56 years of performing around the world and writing and recording innumerable songs and recordings\, Tom Paxton has found yet another outlet for his creativity; he has joined his friends and song-writing colleagues Jon Vezner and Don Henry––known collectively as The Don Juans––in a writing and performing experience calculated to keep them too busy to get into trouble. A trembling world awaits the results. \n\n\n\nTom’s career has taken him from his days as a drama student at The University of Oklahoma to thousands of concerts in a variety of venues––from coffee houses in Greenwich Village to The Albert Hall in London to Carnegie Hall in New York; from festivals in Hong Kong to Denmark\, from Tokyo to Oslo. \n\n\n\nHe has done over 50 concert tours of England\, Wales\, Scotland and Ireland and has recorded over 50 albums of his own songs. Recordings of his songs by other artists number in the hundreds and include artists such as Bob Dylan\, Johnny Cash\, Willie Nelson\, Dolly Parton\, Judy Collins\, John Denver\, Joan Baez and Peter\, Paul & Mary\, to name just a very few. \n\n\n\nHe began his performing career in Greenwich Village in 1960\, coming in on weekends from Fort Dix\, New Jersey\, where he was toiling away in the Clerk Typist School. (He used his typewriter one day to compose his famous song for children\, The Marvelous Toy\, later a hit for The Chad Mitchell Trio and Peter\, Paul & Mary). Upon his release he stayed in New York and put in several years playing in now-legendary coffee houses like The Gaslight and befriending other singers like Dave Van Ronk (The Mayor of Macdougal Street)\, Bob Dylan\, Phil Ochs and Eric Andersen. \n\n\n\nHis shows with The Don Juans have him on his toes\, he says; “These guys are long-ball hitters and if I don’t want to get smoked I’d better do a little rehearsing. I probably need to do that anyway\,” he says\, laughing. “It certainly couldn’t hurt.” \n\n\n\n“Thirty years ago Tom Paxton taught a generation of traditional folksingers that it was noble to write your own songs\, and\, like a good guitar\, he just gets better with age.” -Guy Clark \n\n\n\nJON VEZNER \n\n\n\nGrammy award-winning songwriter\, Nashville-based Jon Vezner is a tunesmith of rare sensitivity and dry wit. His catalogue of recorded songs\, topped by the poignant “Where’ve You Been\,” reflects his straight-to-the-heart sensibility and emotional awareness. Vezner weaves the particulars of his own feelings with the lives of people he has known into universal themes that deeply touch listeners’ emotions. \n\n\n\nVezner was honored with a Grammy for “Best Country Song” and the Nashville Songwriters Association “Song of the Year” in 1990\, for “Where’ve You Been” — the true story of Vezner’s grandparents — co-written with Don Henry\, and recorded by Kathy Mattea. “Where’ve You Been” was also honored as “Song of the Year” by the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM). Jon was also voted “Songwriter of the Year” by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. \n\n\n\nBorn in Minnesota\, Jon Vezner began his musical career as lead singer and bassist for various groups in high school\, going on to earn a B.A. degree in music education and music theory at Minnesota Southwest State University in the mid ′70s. \n\n\n\nJon’s catalogue of songs reads like a songbook itself\, interpreted and recorded by some of the greats in the business such as Martina McBride\, Reba McEntire\, Faith Hill\, Steve Wariner\, The Wiggins\, Clay Walker\, Diamond Rio\, BJ Thomas\, Janis Ian\, John Mellencamp\, Nancy Griffith\, Judy Collins\, and Native American recording artist\, Bill Miller\, to name a few. \n\n\n\nJon’s production credits include artists such as Danny O’Keefe\, Victoria Shaw\, and singing legend Patti Page. \n\n\n\n“Jon Vezner writes about the details\, the details of our hearts and feelings. His gift is in speaking to these ordinary things which connect us to one another. And in recognizing their simple beauty\, he transforms them into something extraordinary.” — Mary-Chapin Carpenter \n\n\n\nDON HENRY \n\n\n\nIn Morgan Hill\, California in the early 70’s\, records like “The Band” by The Band and “Honky Chateau” by Elton John prompted Don Henry to begin writing his own lyrics to Jim Croce melodies. Long may he write.” Dirty Linen \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about Tom Paxton: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / YOUTUBE \n\n\n\nLearn more about The Don Juans: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / YOUTUBE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW / ALL AGES\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

DESCRIPTION:Myra Melford’s Fire and Water\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n$35 MEMBER / $40 ADVANCE / $50 DAY OF \n\n\n\nTHIS IS A YOUTH ARTS PASS SHOW \n\n\n\nSEATED ROOM SHOW / ALL AGES \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINALLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT MYRA MELFORD’S FIRE AND WATER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: JAZZ \n\n\n\nHailed by The New Yorker as “a stalwart of the new-jazz movement\,” the endlessly gifted pianist\, composer\, bandleader\, and educator Myra Melford comes to TACAW with her dynamic all-star Fire and Water Quintet. The quintet brings together Melford (composer/piano)\, Ingrid Laubrock (tenor and soprano saxophones)\, Mary Halvorson (electric guitar) and Tomeka Reid (cello)\, and rising star Lesley Mok (drums). Their critically acclaimed debut\, inspired by a set of drawings by the visual artist Cy Twombly\, For the Love of Fire and Water was released in April 2022 on the RogueArt label. A second album\, Hear the Light Singing\, adding “insertions” to the original suite\, written with each player’s unique musical personality in mind\, was released in October 2023 to immense critical acclaim. In the last three years\, the band has toured from Pori to San Sebastien to Austin to San Francisco and everywhere in between. \n\n\n\nMyra Melford’s Fire and Water\n\n\n\nMyra Melford \n\n\n\nThe Bay Area pianist Myra Melford—hard-angled counterpoint\, potent grooves\, free exploration\, intuitive interplay\, chamber-music elements and much more. Born in 1957 and raised near Chicago\, Melford’s early tutelage included both classical training and the Windy City blues and boogie-woogie she absorbed through her first piano teacher\, Erwin Helfer.  \n\n\n\nShe became introduced to jazz during college\, in Olympia\, Washington\, and later studied under Art Lande and Gary Peacock in Seattle before heading east\, first to Boston and then to New York. Once immersed in the city that nurtured Cecil Taylor\, Ornette Coleman and her other avant-jazz beacons\, she began making her own vital contributions to the burgeoning Downtown scene. In these formative years she participated in a workshop with AACM hero Leroy Jenkins\, studied piano with Jaki Byard and Don Pullen\, took composition lessons from Henry Threadgill and began a decade-long tenure in ensembles led by “Conduction” innovator Butch Morris. \n\n\n\nSince debuting on record as a bandleader in 1990\, she’s accrued a discography containing more than 20 albums as a leader or co-leader and boasting collaborations with creative-music luminaries like Dave Douglas\, Ben Goldberg\, Chris Speed\, Erik Friedlander\, Cuong Vu and Marty Ehrlich. Her working groups have acted as both singular\, self-contained units and larger statements of her always developing ideas about composition and improvisation. In her early trio with Lindsey Horner and Reggie Nicholson\, Melford established a searching\, democratic take on trio language that expanded in later groups like Equal Interest\, with Jenkins and Joseph Jarman; Trio M\, featuring Matt Wilson and Mark Dresser; and the freely improvising. A similarly all-embracing mission\, based in writing that is at once intricate and receptive to the whims of the ensemble\, has defined her quintets and sextets\, including the Same River\, Twice\, Be Bread and now Snowy Egret. \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, Melford has received some of the most prestigious honors in contemporary music\, including numerous Down Beat poll placings\, a 2012 Alpert Award in the Arts for Music and\, in 2013\, a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Doris Duke Performing Artist Award. That same year\, she earned a Doris Duke Residency to Build Demand for the Arts\, during which she facilitated forward-looking programming at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. A 2000 Fulbright scholarship allowed Melford to study in North India for nine months\, a journey that informed the early music of Be Bread. In 2016\, Snowy Egret was named Midsize Ensemble of the Year in the Jazz Journalists Association’s annual Jazz Awards. whom the New Yorker called “a stalwart of the new-jazz movement”—has spent the last three decades making brilliant original music that is equally challenging and engaging. Over the years\, and inspired by extramusical sources like literature\, history and spirituality\, she’s explored an array of formats\, from ruminative solo-piano recitals to deeply interactive small groups\, ambitious multidisciplinary programs and even the swinging grandeur of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.  Her idiom-bending ingenuity—which has garnered Melford fans from the worlds of jazz\, contemporary classical and the avant-garde—has been a through line in her musical life. \n\n\n\nAn experienced educator as well\, Melford relocated to the Bay Area from New York in 2004 to join the music department at the University of California\, Berkeley. A Professor of Composition and Improvisational Practices for the Department of Music\, she continues to bring cutting-edge jazz and new music to the campus community via her teaching and as a guest curator for the Cal Performances organization. \n\n\n\nTomeka Reid \n\n\n\nDescribed as a “New Jazz Power Source” by the New York Times\, cellist and composer TOMEKA REID has emerged as one of the most original\, versatile\, and curious musicians in Chicago’s bustling jazz and improvised music community over the last decade. Her distinctive melodic sensibility\, always rooted in a strong sense of groove\, has been featured in many distinguished ensembles over the years. Reid released her debut recording as a bandleader in 2015\, with the Tomeka Reid Quartet\, a vibrant showcase for the cellist’s improvisational acumen as well as her dynamic arrangements and compositional ability. The quartet’s second album\, Old New\, released in Oct 2019 on Cuneiform Records\, has been described as “fresh and transformative—its songs striking out in bold\, lyrical directions with plenty of Reid’s singularly elegant yet energetic and sharp-edged bow work.” And\, most recently\, in April of 2024\, what has been considered Reid’s most adventurous Quartet recording to date is the highly acclaimed 3+3. \n\n\n\nA 2022 MacArthur Fellow and Herb Alpert Artist and 2021 USA Fellow\, Reid has received awards from the Foundation of the Arts (2019)\, 3Arts (2016) and received her doctorate in music from the University of Illinois\, Urbana-Champaign in 2017. Reid has been a key member of ensembles led by legendary reedists like Anthony Braxton\, Roscoe Mitchell\, as well as a younger generation of visionaries including flutist Nicole Mitchell\, vocalist Dee Alexander\, and drummer Mike Reed. \n\n\n\nIn 2013\, she launched the first Chicago Jazz String Summit\, a semi-annual three-day international festival of cutting edge string players held in Chicago. From 2019 to 2021\, Tomeka Reid received a teaching appointment at Mills College as the Darius Milhaud Chair in Composition. \n\n\n\nMary Halvorson \n\n\n\nGuitarist\, composer and MacArthur fellow MaryHalvorson has been described as “a singular talent” (Lloyd Sachs\, JazzTimes)\, ”NYC’s least-predictable improviser” (Howard Mandel\, City Arts)\, “one of the most original jazz guitarists of our time” (Peter Margasak\, Bandcamp Daily)\, and “one of today’s most formidable bandleaders” (Francis Davis\, Village Voice). In recent Downbeat Critics Polls she has been celebrated as guitarist\, rising star jazz artist\, and rising star composer of the year. Drawing on tonal influences from the American and global south\, Sollee’s vocals and unique cello style thread through each track binding seemingly disparate chapters of his journey – the Long Haul.  \n\n\n\nAfter his last album in 2017\, Sollee took a break from touring to grow his family and deepen community connections in Louisville\, KY. Now a father of three\, Sollee has leaned into his work as a composer; scoring films such as LAND from director Robin Wright\, and Maggie Morre(s)\, a John Slattery film featuring Tina Fey and Jon Hamm. He also scored the podcast series Unreformed\, which was recently nominated for a Peabody Award. Outside of music\, Sollee helped launch the non-profit Canopy\, which supports Kentucky businesses positively impacting their communities and planet. \n\n\n\nLike so many\, the COVID-19 pandemic years\, which Sollee refers to as “the great pause\,” brought loss and grief. The deaths of his mentor Jon Rieger\, his father Bob Sollee\, and his long-time musical partner Jordon Ellis presented him with opportunities for reflection and growth. This in turn\, gives the new record a sense of buoyancy\, a feeling of rising out of a depth\, seven years coming. \n\n\n\nThe title track “Long Haul” tells the story of Sollee’s nearly two year struggle with long-COVID. The lyrics paint in broad strokes and are relatable to anyone who’s been forced – for whatever reason – to shift their relationship to their body. He sings\, “I didn’t know how rich I was until this poverty\,” lilting up to a high note letting us know he’s embraced and grown from the experience. “I realized I had a very exploitative relationship with my body and my creativity\,” says Sollee. “I realized the most radical thing you can do is to care for yourself; not in some optimized\, individualistic way\, but as an aspect of nature and society” Serving as the album’s title\, “Long Haul” takes on a universal meaning as a journey that we’re all on together. \n\n\n\nWhile working on the record\, Sollee lived by the mantra\, “show our fingerprints\,” referencing the guidance of NY Times tech reporter Kevin Roose in his book Futureproof. In this age of automation and generative technologies\, Sollee chose to employ breathy woodwinds\, choirs\, tactile hand percussion\, and his signature cello style\, all of which shine through in the Dolby ATMOS Spatial Audio version of the album (a first for Sollee). Evoking the music of Paul Simon\, there is a forward momentum to the songs that creates a sense of journey. And this traveling groove comes through on key songs like “Misty Miles” and “Under the Spell”\, both of which explore the friction of being human in the rush of technology and consumerism. The refrain “When will enough be enough?” in Misty Miles is sung over the smooth\, rhythmic cadence of bicycling\, juxtaposing imagery of “crooked live oaks” with Charleston\, South Carolina’s more artificial landscapes. \n\n\n\nBoth of these songs give an honest description of how Sollee relates to his work\, accomplishments\, family and community. “I’m constantly trying to let go of all of these ambitions and desires… just be present with my family\, with nature…and to be present where I am in life.” \n\n\n\nWhile many of the songs on Long Haul ask questions\, the track “One More Day ” makes a plea. “It’s a love letter\,” Sollee explains “My greatest hope for this song is that it can be shared in times of crisis\, maybe when someone you know is toeing the line of that irreversible choice: ending their life.” In February of 2023\, Sollee lost his long-time musical brother and close friend Jordon Ellis to suicide. The two had recorded and toured together since 2009. The idea for “One More Day” came to Sollee as he walked through the Louisville airport for the first time without his travel companion. In his words\, “His spirit was everywhere. I realized\, no matter where I went\, the memory of him was going to be there… pretty much every airport and venue\, I’ve walked through and played with him.” The lyrics\, rich with descriptive imagery of their travels together\, ride the song’s distinct percussive groove\, “a strange groove” as Sollee describes it. It was inspired by free-range jams on and off stage with Ellis that explored Tejano\, Soca\, and Caribbean musical influences\, full of buoyancy and joy.  \n\n\n\nWithout Ellis as his percussive and collaborative keystone\, Sollee found himself creatively adrift while writing the record. But over time\, he viewed it as an opportunity for growth and to explore new collaborative relationships. This\, and Sollee’s desire to bring hand-percussion to the album led him to multi-instrumentalist\, Patrick Duke Graney. \n\n\n\nOther creatives featured on the album include Grammy nominated Jason Clayborn and the Atmosphere Changers\, Stuart Bogie who arranged and performed the winds and horns\, bassist Alana Rocklin\, of STS9\, long-time friend Dan Dorff on keys and drums\, and multi-instrumentalist Brandon Coleman. Kentucky-based artist Ceirra Evans painted the album cover. The image features a man sauntering along a winding path through Eyvind Earle-esque woods. It conveys a sense of wonder and flow\, similar to the record\, with the man distinctly in the middle of his journey – constantly arriving\, but not yet finishing – on a long haul. \n\n\n\nLearn more: Website / YouTube / Spotify / Twitter / Facebook \n\n\n\nABOUT GABRIELLE LOUISE\n\n\n\nGabrielle Louise writes original Americana that\, though rooted in folk tradition\, blends a sophisticated use of musical harmony with a lyrical love for philosophy\, history\, and storytelling. Don’t miss it! \n\n\n\nABOUT Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre – Funk \n\n\n\nJoe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers will make a sprightly young groove doctor out of anyone. With spectacular energy pulsating from every member of the band\, the Rainbow Seekers could illuminate the very chambers of Heaven. Lead singer Joe Hertler splashes through lyrical puddles of golden rain\, leaving his audience wearing flowery crowns and bubbling smiles. A ride on the Rainbow will take you across the mountains of Motown\, through the fjords of folk\, over the archipelagos of Americana\, and-at last-into a funky firth\, where only the fiercest of friendships can be found. \n\n\n\nThe Rainbow Seekers began their historic quest 8 years ago\, revolving around the pure\, unadulterated songwriting of their fearless leader\, Joe Hertler. Ryan Hoger was the first among the Seekers to find this lonely songsmith and recognize the twinkling magic in his beard. The young boy gave up all his earthly possessions (besides his guitar\, of course) and became the first disciple of the Rainbow. With this\, the core of the Rainbow was thereby established\, and it didn’t take long for the Rainbow Seekers to continue their expansion. Multi-instrumentalist and notable auxiliary percussion maestro Micah Bracken journeyed from the bowels of Atlantis when he heard tell of the Rainbow\, and the earth trembled as saxophonist and all-around badass Aaron Stinson descended from Olympus on a golden rainbow of his own. Then came thunder from the depths of space and as it picked up the bass\, a soft exhale escaped the lips of every princess within a hundred moons\, “Bambis\,” they cooed. All the while\, on the other ends of the earth\, a young boy was hard at work\, honing and sharpening his sticks for the day that the Rainbow would come his way\, and when it landed at his door\, Ryan McMahon climbed aboard.  \n\n\n\nSince the early days\, their quest has brought them across the nation and upon such noble gatherings as Bonnaroo\, Electric Forest\, and Summer Camp. As you’ll know if you’ve seen the band\, seeking the proverbial Rainbow is all about the live performance. “The live show is the purpose of the band. This is why we make music. Playing music is a symbiotic process\, the crowd is as much a part of it as the musicians. We give as much energy and love as we can and we can feel that coming from the crowd as well” says Hertler. “We believe that performance is not a High Art operation\, and that you should do anything you can to ensure that the crowd is having a good time. From piñatas to confetti\, to fog\, to flowers\, to drum solos\, to strobe lights\, to Thor\, to sword battles-literally anything goes.”  \n\n\n\nIf you’re still reading this\, at least one thing is true: The Rainbow Seekers have been waiting for you. If you’ll only let them\, they will shake the dust from your wildest expectations. They will roar into your life with rapturous frequencies\, exuberant tone\, and a joyfulness of purpose that has truly become a rare sight on stage. Join them in their celebration\, and they will take you on a never-ending journey to a place you’ll never be able to describe in words. \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n ABOUT Judy Blank\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf Judy Blank would tell you she grew up in a beach town in Southern California\, you’d probably believe her. But nothing could be further from the truth. Hailing from Utrecht\, The Netherlands\, the blue-eyed indie folk sensation has been known for an eclectic sound. Her music lands somewhere in the realm of ‘60’s girl group meets indie/garage rock\, never losing the intimacy of a singer-songwriter. Whether she’s grooving with her band in a dark bar in Los Angeles\, or in a quiet theater with nothing but a guitar\, she’s certain to draw you in with her whimsical tunes\, magnetic stage presence & painfully relatable lyrics. \n\n\n\nAs a kid\, she spent every night of the week watching classic American movies with her dad. Inspired by their storytelling and captivating soundtracks\, she always dreamed of crossing the Atlantic to embark on her own heroine’s journey: pursuing her career as an artist in the United States. When she was nineteen\, she bought a cheap plane ticket to New Orleans\, where she started playing her first shows in local bars & coffee houses. Shortly after\, she made her way to Nashville\, where she recorded her 70’s inspired coming-of-age LP ‘Morning Sun’. From the green-eyed soul of her hit single ‘Mary Jane’ to the jagged-edged ballad ‘Tangled Up in You’\, which currently has over twelve million streams on Spotify\, her album checked all the boxes. Lead single ‘1995’ was even called a favorite by none other than one of her favorite artists: Sir Elton John. The release of ‘Morning Sun’ not only put her on the map in Europe\, where she sold out clubs as a headliner and got to open for artists like Langhorne Slim\, The Wood Brothers and SUSTO\, but also in the States. She officially debuted at SXSW in Austin in 2019 and was the first Dutch artist to ever play AmericanaFest in Nashville that same year. \n\n\n\nBut in every heroine’s journey\, the protagonist needs to experience internal conflict in order to grow. Her most recent EP\, ‘Saddies’\, has added a whole new layer of vulnerability to her artistry; she produced it herself after experiencing an unexpected mental breakdown. Each song describes a relatable struggle and encapsulates it in its own universe\, with a hint of self-mockery and plenty of party favors \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:30 pm / DOORS @ 7:30 pm\n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

He layers Roland 808s against avant-garde drumming in the vein of his mentors Elvin Jones and Billy Hart\, the latter of whom he studied with at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Virtuoso musos appear alongside rap poets\, including Danny Brown\, Wiki\, Lil B\, and Shabazz Palaces. Top-flight jazz improvisation weaves in and out of orchestral string arrangements by Jherek Bischoff. The album’s diverse\, all-star roster of collaborators includes several of his close friends\, like vocalists Nick Hakim\, Laura Mvula\, Francis and the Lights\, and jazz stars like Theo Croker and Vijay Iyer.  \n\n\n\nANIMALS pushes Kassa’s message further too\, the title a loaded metaphor for the paradoxes of his life as an entertainer and as a black man in America. ANIMALS is the sound of an artist aware of the cost of embodying one’s natural self in the public eye\, a deep reckoning with the two-sided truth that to perform one’s freedom for an audience can mean succumbing to life inside a cage.  \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\n limited seating will be available / 16+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

The son of a Tulane University professor\, he was taught the rudiments of instrumentation by his uncle on his mother’s ukulele. “Uncle Howard\,” Smither says\, “showed me that if you knew three chords\, you could play a lot of the songs you heard on the radio. And if you knew four chords\, you could pretty much rule the world.” With that bit of knowledge under his belt\, he was hooked. “I’d loved acoustic music – specifically the blues – ever since I first heard Lightnin’ Hopkins’ Blues In My Bottle album. I couldn’t believe the sound Hopkins got. At first I thought it was two guys playing guitar. My style\, to a degree\, came out of trying to imitate that sound I heard.” \n\n\n\nIn his early twenties\, Smither turned his back on his anthropology studies and headed to Boston at the urging of legendary folk singer Eric von Schmidt. It was the mid-’60s and acoustic music thrived in the streets and coffeehouses there. Smither forged lifelong friendships with many musicians\, including Bonnie Raitt who went on to record his songs\, “Love You Like A Man” and “I Feel the Same. (Their friendship has endured as their career paths intertwined over the years.) What quickly evolved from his New Orleans and Cambridge musical experiences is his enduring\, singular guitar sound – a beat-driven finger-picking\, strongly influenced by the playing of Mississippi John Hurt and Lightnin’ Hopkins\, layered over the ever-present backbeat of his rhythmic\, tapping feet (always mic’d in performance). \n\n\n\nThe sound and imagery of the 20th release by Chris Smither\, All About the Bones\, (release date: May 3\, 2024 on Signature Sounds/Mighty Albert\, distributed by Redeye) is as elemental as the inky black shadows cast by a shockingly bright moon. The listener is welcomed into some gothic mansion on an imaginary New Orleans street\, and there in the lamplit parlor confronts the band\, a minimalist skeleton crew: Smither’s inimitable propulsive guitar and rumbling baritone are joined seamlessly to producer David Goodrich’s carpetbag of instruments\, Zak Trojano’s rock-steady\, primal drumming\, BettySoo’s diaphanous harmony vocals\, and the flat\, mournful flood of Jazz legend Chris Cheek’s saxophone. \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocal 7th through 12th graders enrolled in TACAW’s Youth Art Pass program are eligible to receive two (2) free admission tickets: one (1) for them and one (1) for a guest. In between they’ve recorded 17 studio albums\, 7 live LPs\, 3 compilations\, 2 EPs\, 2 DVDs\, and contributed 40+ guest appearances on their friends’ recordings — all garnering 5 Grammys\, an Austin City Limits Hall of Fame induction\, the ALMA Richie Valens Pioneer Award\, NEA and Hispanic Heritage Foundation Honors\, Congressional recognitions\, plus countless “Keys to the City” and “Los Lobos Day” celebrations. And those are just a few of the highlights. But beyond all the hoopla and applause (and the source of it all\, really) is the tremendous heart. Rather\, hearts. Cinco corazones. Five blood brothers who have dedicated their off-stage time to helping others\, working for peace and justice\, penning some of the most literate and important music of their time\, transforming the hard cries from the East L.A. barrio into songs of hope\, tales of common folk finding ways to endure. The young wolves were weaned on late-night radio’s soul\, R&B\, and doo-wop. Were cured through the African-American currents of the blues\, jazz\, and rock ‘n’ roll. An amalgam. As proud Chicanos\, their songs have always glistened with the distillation from their Mexican and Latin American roots — nourished by Norteña and rancheras\, buoyed by bolero and cumbias\, soaring on the rhythms of son huasteco and son jarocho. Los Lobos have helped spread the rich diversity of cultures across every continent\, throughout the global community. Kids in Antwerp now know about Aztlán. Residents of Luxor and Ghana are crooning Lalo Guerrero. People from Laos and Bulgaria are belting “La Bamba” — all thanks to The Wolves as cultural ambassadors. Talk about a living legacy. Talk about a productive half century. And in the true rebel spirit\, they did it all on their own terms\, against formula. For the ages. To our delight. Quite simply\, they are one of the tightest\, one of the best\, one of the most prolific bands ever. And\, amazingly\, with the original founding members as the pack the entire time. Unprecedented. As their liner notes put it\, quite simply: “Los Lobos still are David Hidalgo\, Louie Pérez\, Jr.\, Cesar Rosas\, Conrad Lozano\, Steve Berlin.” \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSOLD OUT\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCousin Curtiss\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCousin Curtiss brings to the stage a fiery dynamic rarely seen by a solo act and now partnered up with the equally enigmatic and soulfully driven electric guitar prowess of Harrison B\, these two road warriors are on a mission to electrify audiences everywhere with their two-man full-band sound. DESCRIPTION:SunSquabi\n\n\n\nW/ Josh Teed and Heady Hooligan \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n$36 MEMBER / $40 ADVANCE / $50 DAY OF \n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / 18+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINALLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT SUNSQUABI\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMusic brings us to our feet literally\, figuratively\, and spiritually. It inspires us to rise up to our day’s trials and tribulations\, and on a larger scale\, the world’s challenges. Through an unspoken sonic communion between three distinct musical identities\, SunSquabi—Kevin Donohue [guitar\, keys\, production]\, Josh Fairman [bass\, synth]\, and Chris Anderson [drums]—rouse us from inactivity and into action when we need the extra push through their signature live electronica sound. After racking up tens of millions of streams and delivering rapturous performances at legendary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, they incite personal revolution louder than ever on their third full-length album\, Arise\, releasing on October 26\, 2022.  \n\n\n\n“Since we’ve all been put down very hard for the past two years\, the entire world has felt this pressure\, sadness\, and struggle\,” observes Kevin. “So we tried to relay a message of arising from the ashes and becoming something new. This album shows how we’re able to do so during a really tough time.”  \n\n\n\nSunSquabi has ignited the energy of listeners everywhere since 2015. They’ve unveiled a string of fan favorite releases such as Odyssey [2016]\, Deluxe EP [2017]\, and Instinct [2019]. In addition to praise from 303 Magazine\, JamBase\, Live For Live Music\, and many more\, WestWord proclaimed\, “The record has electrifying moments\,” and ThisSongIsSick raved\, “SunSquabi never fails to bring the funk. Throughout the project they showcase their instrumentation highlighting shredding guitar riffs\, funky basslines and crisp percussion with just the right touch of electronic production elements.” Along the way\, they’ve sold out venues coast-to-coast\, capturing one of three Red Rocks gigs so far on SunSquabi (Live at Red Rocks). The guys have collaborated with String Cheese Incident\, Late Night Radio\, Lettuce\, and GRiZ\, to name a few. During 2019\, the musicians began kicking around initial ideas for Arise during marathon jam sessions.  \n\n\n\nAs the Pandemic shut down touring\, SunSquabi continued to write and record.  \n\n\n\n“A couple of songs came together as jams in the basement or on live streams\,” recalls Kevin. “We’d rework these improv-based ideas in the studio. It was an extended process. We definitely took advantage of the time.”  \n\n\n\nJosh adds\, “We’re very proud of the band staying true to the music and to each other. We came together during the Pandemic and made sacrifices together. We’ve bonded as a band. We don’t try to jump on any trends. We’re true to ourselves and make music we feel in our hearts.”  \n\n\n\nYou’ll feel songs such as the first single “Elephant Song” [feat. Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic] released on July 29\, 2022. Born as an improvised jam during one of the band’s early Pandemic livestreams\, the guys orbit an otherworldly groove\, cycling between warbling spacey guitar\, hypnotic electronics\, and a soaring saxophone solo courtesy of Dominic.  \n\n\n\n“With this song in particular\, elephants represent luck\, good strength\, and loyalty\,” Kevin elaborates. “‘Elephant Song’ represented us sticking together and sharing the ability to write songs even though everything was shut down. It’s about realizing what you have and using your strength and the family around you\, which is what Elephants do. It felt like it needed a lead voice\, so it was natural to include Dom. Big Gigantic was a big influence for us to start SunSquabi. We’re integrating the electronic side of things into hip-hop\, funk\, and rock.”  \n\n\n\nThen\, there’s “Scorpion.” A danceable melody stings between a shimmering beat\, neon keys\, and fretboard-burning guitar\, gestating during a run of live gigs feeding off the energy of the crowd\, mountains\, and desert.  \n\n\n\n“Scorpions are symbols of danger and death\,” Josh states. “A scorpion is usually a warning. However\, a scorpion may also show up in your life as a blessing. It’s similar to how we were able to take this dark period of time and turn it into a blessing and a symbol of power.”  \n\n\n\n“When everything is hard and unknown\, you appreciate what you do have and what is important like your family\, friends\, and health\,” Josh continues. “There’s no light without darkness. It’s about seeing the positives even though you acknowledge how weird everything is.”  \n\n\n\nIn the end\, SunSquabi uplifted once again with Arise. \n\n\n\n “If there’s an intention\, it’s to lift people’s spirits\,” Kevin leaves off. “There’s always a way to rise up.”  \n\n\n\n“We’ve been going to Hawaii a bunch\, and we went to see the lava\,” Josh adds. “With lava\, you witness epic destruction of what was there before. At the same time\, you’re witnessing the creation of the youngest land in existence. It’s a cycle of making something out of the destruction and moving on with appreciation. Arise is an example of what can come out of a rough situation. You can move forward.”   \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT JOSH TEED\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWeaving soul-touching\, intricate melodies together with experimental sound design\, Josh Teed’s music is an experience unlike any other. \n\n\n\nAfter 20+ years with a violin in hand\, the producer and instrumentalist is aiming to break down the barriers between electronic and instrumental music by bringing his unique blend of hard hitting bass and outside the box violinistry to ears around the world. \n\n\n\nLearn more: FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / SPOTIFY / SOUNDCLOUD \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT HEADY HOOLIGAN\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHeady Hooligan aka Marc McMillan is a Colorado based musician from Carbondale Colorado in the Roaring Fork Valley. His music blends electronic dance grooves with ambient synth sweeps\, meditative guitar lines and funky dance beats; cultivating a danceable space funk party.  \n\n\n\nHe utilizes analog synths and drum machines to create elements of hip-hop\, jazz\, funk and ambient bliss.
