SUMMARY:Equity Speaker Series ft Jason Vitello
DESCRIPTION:EQUITY SPEAKER SERIES\n\n\n\nft. Jason Vitello\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 6:30PM | DOORS @ 5:30PM \n\n\n\nFREE WITH RSVP \n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE WITH RSVP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Equity Speaker Series ft. Jason Vitello \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored by Equity Action Project \n\n\n\nRacism: A Public Health Crisis \n\n\n\nIn recent years our nation has seen disproportionately high rates of COVID-19 cases\, hospitalizations\, and deaths within the BIPOC community\, high-profile murders of unarmed Black people by police\, a rise in discrimination and hate crimes against individuals of Asian descent\, and the re-emergence of overt bigotry in social discourse. \n\n\n\nIn response\, the American Public Health Association\, many of its affiliates\, and public health departments across the country have declared racism a public health crisis and have begun campaigns to address racial inequities. Unfortunately\, a significant backlash has arisen as well\, as evidenced by the proliferation of hateful rhetoric across corporate and social media platforms\, and legislation in multiple states which bans the teaching of factual history in schools and diminishes the voting power of racial minorities. \n\n\n\nThis should come as no surprise\, as throughout the history of the United States\, every movement to advance equity and justice for BIPOC and other systemically excluded communities has been met by fierce resistance; and every gain ever made against racism and oppression has only come through struggle. This presentation will provide the historically factual context of this enduring struggle and a path forward for community and public health leaders. \n\n\n\n\nParticipants will better understand racism as a cause of social inequality and a barrier to community and population health.\n\n\n\nParticipants will better understand health equity and anti-racism and why these should be a primary focus of public health.\n\n\n\nParticipants will have a deeper professional and personal commitment to equity and anti-racism.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJason Vitello Bio: \n\n\n\nJason Vitello is the Past President of the Colorado Public Health Association\, Equity and Community Development Manager at the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition\, a practitioner at the Public Health Institute at Denver Health\, and an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. He is also a national speaker\, consultant\, educator\, and activist committed to the advancement of justice\, equity\, and healing in our communities\, and in the systems that serve them. Formerly\, Jason was a social worker and therapist who provided advocacy and clinical services to individuals from over-impacted and under-resourced communities. It should be noted that before he was ever a provider of human services or family assistance – he was a recipient of them. \n\n\n\nHis ultimate interest is in collective liberation and the betterment of the human condition through fierce compassion\, unity across struggles\, the peaceful obliteration of structural inequalities\, and comprehensive paradigm transformation. \n\n\n\nLearn more: Website \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShow @ 6:30PM | Doors @ 5:30PM\n\n\n\nSeated Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

Even though her voice lessons were in Italian Opera\, her passion and practice was jazz. At the age of 18\, she was the youngest person to perform with the Argentine National Jazz Orchestra. She moved to the U.S. 21 years ago and for the last 13 years she has been performing in the Roaring Fork Valley. The music performed by Josefina combines rhythms\, melodies\, and different performance traditions that surpass the boundaries between language and culture. Josefina is currently studying at the Berklee School of Music. \n\n\n\nTim Fox graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Music Education. He has played trumpet and/or piano in the Chicago area\, around Colorado’s Western Slope\, and on the road\, with the likes of The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra\, under the direction of Buddy Morrow\, The Temptations\, The Four Tops\, Eric Alexander\, Ed Soph\, Ernie Watts\, Red Skelton\, Barbara Eden\, Connie Francis\, Mitzi Gaynor\, and many more. In the midst of receiving those two degrees\, McDevitt enjoyed a successful stint in New Orleans playing with The Mike Dillon Band. During his time with the band\, McDevitt toured the country performing at some of the biggest music festivals and opening for Karl Denson\, Galactic and rock legends Clutch and Primus. McDevitt’s passion for music and his drive to grow as an artist can be accredited to the Colorado Conservatory of the Jazz Arts\, where he was a student and later an educator. SUMMARY:52/13 Film and Conversation with Michael Wirth and Neal Beidleman

He did so in 61 days: traveling over 300 miles\, accumulating more than 250\,000’ of elevation gain\, and climbing peaks in the winter where no one \n\n\n\nhad stepped or skied before. \n\n\n\nIn the mountains\, especially untraveled ones\, minimizing the unknowns equates to minimizing risks. The philosophy Michael followed in his journey through the Elks was centered around incrementalism. That is\, incrementally building a base of knowledge about the range to continuously fill the void of uncertainty that surrounded the project’s possibility at large. 52/13 is a film that dives intimately into the journey of climbing and skiing these mountains. It exposes the challenges\, beauty\, and appreciation for the magical Elk Range of Colorado. \n\n\n\nMichael Wirth Bio: \n\n\n\nMichael Wirth is a young professional mountain athlete specializing in big-mountain backcountry skiing and ultra/mountain running. His priorities are efficiency in the mountains\, linking complex routes\, and discovering undiscovered objectives. Furthermore\, Michael is an up-and-coming filmmaker who strives to intimately share the stories of his journeys with the community to inspire a new lens of viewing mountain travel. \n\n\n\nMichael’s recent accomplishments as an athlete include: \n\n\n\n2021: \n\n\n\n\nClimbing and skiing all 59 peaks above 13\,000’ in the Elk Range in 61 days\n\n\n\n\n2022: \n\n\n\n\nSkied 31 of the 50 Classic Ski Descents of North America in a single season\n\n\n\nElks Traverse Fastest Known Time (a 50 mile 24\,000’ elevation gain mountain running traverse to summit the 7 Elk 14ers continuously done in 22 hours and 30 minutes)\n\n\n\nTelluride Mountain Run 40-mile Course Record\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n52/13 Teaser: YOUTUBE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 6:30pm // Show @ 7:30pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621

It was there he bumped into some old friends who helped set him on a course that led to Enjoy the Ride\, his first-ever solo album in 30 years of making records. \n\n\n\n“I think age 60 is a great time to start a solo career\,” Herman says with a laugh. “Especially how the music industry is so focused on us older folks these days. \n\n\n\nHe says the solo record is “a bit of a departure from anything I’ve done before.” The material is an Americana travelogue that takes the listener from Prine-ish country-folk rock (“Lost Lover’s Eyes”)\, funky swamp rock (“Rattlesnake”) and jazzy Dixieland polka (“Any Other Way”) to straight-up bluegrass (“The Ride”)\, classic Cajun country (“Coraleen”) and traditional country (“Drinking Alone”). \n\n\n\nIt may have taken Herman nearly three decades to get around to making his first solo record\, but it was certainly worth the wait. “Enjoy the Ride represents what country music is to me\,” he says. “Rooted in tradition but wide open and ready for a good ride.” \n\n\n\nLearn more about Vince Herman Band: Youtube \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpener The Red Hill Rollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Red Hill Rollers (Logan Fletcher\, Jeanette Adams\, Camille Backman & Mac Benning) are a bluegrass group made up of four voices and nineteen strings. SUMMARY:Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley
DESCRIPTION:Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00PM | DOORS @ 7:00PM \n\n\n\n$20 MEMBERS | $25 IN ADVANCE | $35 DAY OF \n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Singer Songwriter (solo) \n\n\n\nAli McGuirk \n\n\n\nGrowing up just outside Boston\, Ali McGuirk doesn’t remember a time when she didn’t want to be a singer. But as a kid\, she didn’t see a path forward. To her\, professional singers were pop icons like Brandy\, Britney or Mariah. McGuirk got a guitar in high school but admits she basically only played the same four chords over and over again. By college\, after a couple decades of absorbing ’90s r&b\,’70s singer-songwriters and classic soul of every era\, McGuirk found her own aesthetic: earthy\, pure\, propelled by a voice capable of whispering dark truths or belting out big hooks on her originals. \n\n\n\nBoston responded with a wave of love. The Boston Globe named her an “artist to hear.” She racked up nominations and wins at both the Boston Music Awards and New England Music Awards. Her standing-room-only residency at Somerville’s Bull McCabe’s Pub delivered electric performances. “I used to sing a lot of jazz and loved the ‘torch’ singers like Dinah Washington\, Etta James\, Sarah Vaughan\, Abbey Lincoln\, even though so many of the songs they sang felt anti-feminist to me\,” McGuirk says. “Abbey Lincoln says a song is like a prayer\, and you get what you put out and I found that to be true in my life. The idea that you can be a strong\, independent feminist\, and still suffer from the leftover feelings of a culture steeped in historically unequal power dynamics between the genders is something that writing these songs has helped me process.” \n\n\n\n Kail Baxley \n\n\n\n“He could literally sing the phone book and bring you to tears.” The warm\, raspy\, honey-soaked voice of a troubadour lived well beyond his years. His is a story with many layers and moving parts. The classic breed of the folk hero born poor in the rich southern soul of a small South Carolina town. But Baxley would have none of that. A humble quiet type that sums his accolades up to over sensationalism. The outlaw parents\, the impoverished youth\, the golden glove medals\, the gunshot wounds. He refers to them as over-glorified and “not much worth looking back on”. It’s the sap at the core of a solid oak. A well that runs deep and plentiful. And the curse and blessing of those true songwriters that come ever so seldom a generation. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Ali McGuirk: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, Youtube and Spotify \n\n\n\nLearn more about KaiL Baxley: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, Youtube and Spotify \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 7:00pm // Show @ 8:00pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

From 3pm-5pm we will enjoy some amazing performances. \n\n\n\n3:10 – 3:40 – Jamie K. Dooley3:45 – 4:15 – Thomas Csorba4:25 – 5:00 – KaiL Baxley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKail Baxley \n\n\n\n“He could literally sing the phone book and bring you to tears.” The warm\, raspy\, honey-soaked voice of a troubadour lived well beyond his years. \n\n\n\nThomas Csorba \n\n\n\nThis Texas based Americana artist is spending some time in our valley. We are fortunate to have him grace our lawn. His latest release is a collection of western songs with a touch of the dust bowl blues. Thomas spins expansive tales with a cast of aimless travelers\, stubbled loners and yellowing family portraits. \n\n\n\nJamie K. Dooley \n\n\n\nJamie Klee Dooley is a singer/songwriter who began her professional career in the Los Angeles area where she played the club circuit including the iconic Palamino and Coconut Teaser.  In the 1980’s she and her husband moved to Nashville Tennessee where she regularly performed at the Bluebird Cafe. In 1992 she was fortunate enough to receive a gold record for a song she wrote with fellow co-writer Mark Elliot called “Making Ends Meet” which was recorded by the late Chris LeDoux on his Watcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy album. She also received a gold record in 1996 for a top ten single performed by Sammy Kershaw called “Fit to Be Tied Down”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShow @ 3:00pm – 5:00pmFREE OUTDOOR EVENTLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW
