DESCRIPTION:Ley line\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$15 IN ADVANCE | $20 DAY OF \n\n\n\nAt TACAW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT LEY LINE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Folk/World \n\n\n\nFour voices coalesce\, rooted in rhythm. Raised on the North American traditions of blues\, folk\, and soul and inspired by their world travels\, the four women of Ley Line transcend genres and languages. Ley Line creates a global soundscape; blending influences from Brazil\, Latin America and West Africa. Dynamic harmonies run like a current through textures of stand up bass\, guitar\, ukulele and world percussion. With strong ties to world folklore traditions\, Ley Line’s multilingual compositions evoke the beauty of the human experience through our connection to nature and each other. \n\n\n\nLey Line was created in 2016 as the merging of two duos. The band was born during the completion of their premier album Field Notes\, and their self-managed tour from Texas to New York. From that point on\, Ley Line has been touring nationally and internationally\, performing at music festivals\, facilitating educational programs for youth\, recording original music and collaborating with other artists. Ley Line has performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival\, SXSW\, The Northwest String Summit\, Kerrville Folk Festival and alongside Bonnie Paine of Elephant Revival at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Ley Line is acknowledged by their hometown of Austin\, Texas as nominees for the Austin Chronicle’s 2020 Band of the Year and Album of the Year. In 2019 they won a major grant through the artist development program Black Fret and have been featured as “artist of the month” on KUTX. \n\n\n\nLey Line is inspired by a deep appreciation for folk music and the way it travels and evolves across borders and generations. The members of Ley Line draw influences from Brazil\, Latin America\, West Africa and beyond and seamlessly connect it to the roots of American folk music. Their multilingual compositions prove the point that music is a universal language that connects us all. In addition to live performances\, Ley Line offers educational programs that cultivate dialogue about cross cultural understanding and explore self expression as a tool to connect across differences. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Ley Line: Website\, Facebook\, Instagram\, Youtube or Spotify. \n\n\n\nMedia Sponsor: KDNK Radio \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 7:00pm\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW 400 Robinson Street in Willits\, the cross street is Market\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. SUMMARY:WYOmericana Caravan
DESCRIPTION:WYOmericana Caravan\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$15 In Advance | $20 Day Of \n\n\n\nAt TACAW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT WYOmericana Caravan \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Americana/Folk \n\n\n\n2021 WYOmericana Caravan Tour: Described as “a traveling concert circus of sorts” in a full-page  article by The New York Times titled “Touring\, the ‘Wyoming Way\,’” the WYOmericana Caravan Tour is a  rolling representation of Wyoming’s burgeoning songwriter scene. In collaboration with the Wyoming  Arts Council\, the carefully curated lineup rotates each year to highlight the state’s strongest acts. Artists  perform individual sets with the suspense of ad-libbed cross-band collaborations\, and a closing set that  includes all members of the tour on stage simultaneously\, taking chances and blending talents. The tour  was named Top Arts/Entertainment Event of 2013 by Casper Star-Tribune and in 2014\, the short  film WYOMERICANA took home 1st place at the Laramie Film Festival. \n\n\n\nThe WYOmericana philosophy is to propel Wyoming’s original music scene as an artist collective\,  exhibiting to the world that there’s a stellar creative spark in the country’s least populated state. The 7th anniversary of the grassroots tour since 2013 is made possible though the generous support of WESTAF\,  Wyoming Arts Council\, Wyoming Public Media\, Give’r\, Buckrail\, BendeRuble Sound\, and Showdeer\,. For  more history about the Tour\, visit WYOmericana.com.  \n\n\n\nLearn more about WYOmericana Caravan: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, YouTube or Spotify. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2021 WYOmericana Caravan Artist Bios \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSarah Sample (Sheridan) Sarah Sample is an award-winning songwriter with a “raw\, graceful voice”  (Salt Lake City Weekly) and beautiful songs that weave a trail of stories through folk\, Americana\, and  country\, garnering comparisons to Sheryl Crow\, The Weepies\, and Bonnie Raitt. Redwing\, Sample’s sixth  album\, features more of her cut-to-the-bone storytelling\, framed with empathy and compassion\, and told  with the best singing of Sample’s career. Redwing is—among other things and in the grand tradition of  albums—a breakup album. But this was no romantic heartbreak; Sample’s breakup was spiritual. She left  the committed religion of her upbringing (and its stringent rules and by-the-book lifestyle) to chart her  own spiritual course. Her previous release with songwriter Edie Carey\, ‘Til The Morning\, won Best  Children’s Album in the 2014 Independent Music Awards. Sample has performed at Merlefest\, Folks  Fest\, Telluride\, and Kerrville\, and has won songwriting contests at most of these. She has warmed-up  stages for Darrell Scott\, Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers\, Marketa Irglova\, and Over The  Rhine. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAaron Davis (Hoback) is chiefly known as co-founder of decade-long national touring act Screen Door  Porch and his eclectic quartet Aaron Davis & the Mystery Machine. The multi-instrumentalist\, engineer producer\, and vocalist will stage a one-man show on acoustic and resonator guitars\, banjo\, harmonica\,  and percussion. Aaron works the lesser-worn corners of the American musical fabric through an  unconventional lens. Slide banjo? Detuned guitar made of metal? You bet. From “searing slide guitar”  (Country Weekly) echoing mid-century acoustic blues\, to a patchwork of story folk and roots music\,  pensive alt-country\, and an improvisational prowess\, Aaron has been described as a “truly phenomenal  songwriter” (Americana UK) with “a particularly interesting approach that mixes poetry\, groove and  roughness” (Lonestar Time) and “a combination that goes down like top-shelf bourbon” (Austin  Chronicle). He has shared bills with many of his heroes—Wilco\, Willie Nelson\, Jason Isbell\, Buddy Guy\,  Sam Bush\, Brian Wilson\, James McMurtry\, and Hayes Carll. In conjunction with a Performing Arts  Music Fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts\, Aaron just put out his tenth  release\, Catalyst. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbby Webster (Wilson) has quickly established herself as an artistic force in the regional music scene\,  performing on this tour as a duo with drummer-percussionist Ryan Ptasnik. Dry wit with raw honesty\,  the avant-garde lyricist’s songs are filled with metaphor and dark humor\, though they are just as  whimsical as they are visceral. These elements are tied together in her recent single\, “88 Constellations\,” which was co-produced by Webster and Davis. In addition to her various releases as a solo artist\, she also  releases music with an electronic duo\, Ski Lift. Webster received a 2021 Performing Arts Fellowship in  Music from the National Endowment for the Arts—a merit-based honor for an artist’s work in their field. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 7:30pm\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW 400 Robinson Street in Willits\, the cross street is Market\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. SUMMARY:Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster
DESCRIPTION:BORIS KARLOFF: THE MAN BEHIND THE MONSTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$12 IN ADVANCE | $15 DAY OF \n\n\n\nAt TACAW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT BORIS KARLOFF: THE MAN BEHIND THE MONSTER \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Film \n\n\n\nIf you were seeking a phrase to characterise the life and career of Boris Karloff (aka William Henry Pratt)\, you could do worse than the credo he used himself: “Fire in the Belly”. From the moment in December 1896 when he emerged from a trap-door as the Demon King in a local parish production of Cinderella\, till the day he died on February 2nd 1969\, the passion for acting remained undimmed. Drawing from dozens of interviews including Guillermo Del Toro\, John Landis\, Roger Corman\, Sara Karloff\, Peter Bogdanovich\, Christopher Plummer\, Stefanie Powers\, Lee Grant\, Sir Christopher Frayling\, Kevin Brownlow\, some of whom have never discussed their time with Boris\, and never released audio of Karloff himself\, “Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster” takes us to the heart of the man\, with a gripping\, intimate portrait of Karloff and the genre he helped define. It’s often noted that in life Karloff was totally unlike his onscreen persona. Colleagues recall his professionalism\, kindness and self-deprecating sense of humour. But\, while chronicling his career\, “Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster” also examines the secretive side of Boris\, areas he wouldn’t discuss even with close friends. And his deepest fear of all\, the fear he might become obsolete. \n\n\n\nBoris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster: Trailer \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30pm\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW 400 Robinson Street in Willits\, the cross street is Market\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that all patrons must present proof of vaccination and adhere to all of TACAW’s Covid-safety protocols. This podcast from Adam Cayton-Holland\, Ben Roy\, and Andrew Orvedahl finds the fellas trying to improve their own lives\, and by extension\, the world at large.
