SUMMARY:Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley
DESCRIPTION:Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00PM | DOORS @ 7:00PM \n\n\n\n$20 MEMBERS | $25 IN ADVANCE | $35 DAY OF \n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Ali McGuirk / KaiL Baxley \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Singer Songwriter (solo) \n\n\n\nAli McGuirk \n\n\n\nGrowing up just outside Boston\, Ali McGuirk doesn’t remember a time when she didn’t want to be a singer. But as a kid\, she didn’t see a path forward. To her\, professional singers were pop icons like Brandy\, Britney or Mariah. McGuirk got a guitar in high school but admits she basically only played the same four chords over and over again. By college\, after a couple decades of absorbing ’90s r&b\,’70s singer-songwriters and classic soul of every era\, McGuirk found her own aesthetic: earthy\, pure\, propelled by a voice capable of whispering dark truths or belting out big hooks on her originals. \n\n\n\nBoston responded with a wave of love. The Boston Globe named her an “artist to hear.” She racked up nominations and wins at both the Boston Music Awards and New England Music Awards. Her standing-room-only residency at Somerville’s Bull McCabe’s Pub delivered electric performances. “I used to sing a lot of jazz and loved the ‘torch’ singers like Dinah Washington\, Etta James\, Sarah Vaughan\, Abbey Lincoln\, even though so many of the songs they sang felt anti-feminist to me\,” McGuirk says. “Abbey Lincoln says a song is like a prayer\, and you get what you put out and I found that to be true in my life. The idea that you can be a strong\, independent feminist\, and still suffer from the leftover feelings of a culture steeped in historically unequal power dynamics between the genders is something that writing these songs has helped me process.” \n\n\n\n Kail Baxley \n\n\n\n“He could literally sing the phone book and bring you to tears.” The warm\, raspy\, honey-soaked voice of a troubadour lived well beyond his years. His is a story with many layers and moving parts. The classic breed of the folk hero born poor in the rich southern soul of a small South Carolina town. But Baxley would have none of that. A humble quiet type that sums his accolades up to over sensationalism. The outlaw parents\, the impoverished youth\, the golden glove medals\, the gunshot wounds. He refers to them as over-glorified and “not much worth looking back on”. It’s the sap at the core of a solid oak. A well that runs deep and plentiful. And the curse and blessing of those true songwriters that come ever so seldom a generation. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Ali McGuirk: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, Youtube and Spotify \n\n\n\nLearn more about KaiL Baxley: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, Youtube and Spotify \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 7:00pm // Show @ 8:00pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

From 3pm-5pm we will enjoy some amazing performances. \n\n\n\n3:10 – 3:40 – Jamie K. Dooley3:45 – 4:15 – Thomas Csorba4:25 – 5:00 – KaiL Baxley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKail Baxley \n\n\n\n“He could literally sing the phone book and bring you to tears.” The warm\, raspy\, honey-soaked voice of a troubadour lived well beyond his years. \n\n\n\nThomas Csorba \n\n\n\nThis Texas based Americana artist is spending some time in our valley. We are fortunate to have him grace our lawn. His latest release is a collection of western songs with a touch of the dust bowl blues. Thomas spins expansive tales with a cast of aimless travelers\, stubbled loners and yellowing family portraits. \n\n\n\nJamie K. Dooley \n\n\n\nJamie Klee Dooley is a singer/songwriter who began her professional career in the Los Angeles area where she played the club circuit including the iconic Palamino and Coconut Teaser.  In the 1980’s she and her husband moved to Nashville Tennessee where she regularly performed at the Bluebird Cafe. In 1992 she was fortunate enough to receive a gold record for a song she wrote with fellow co-writer Mark Elliot called “Making Ends Meet” which was recorded by the late Chris LeDoux on his Watcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy album. She also received a gold record in 1996 for a top ten single performed by Sammy Kershaw called “Fit to Be Tied Down”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShow @ 3:00pm – 5:00pmFREE OUTDOOR EVENTLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

SUMMARY:Jon Cleary (solo)
DESCRIPTION:Jon Cleary (solo)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00PM | DOORS @ 7:30PM \n\n\n\n$40 IN ADVANCE | $50 DAY OF \n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Jon Cleary \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Jazz / R&B \n\n\n\nWhat a way to kick off TACAW’s First Birthday Celebration! Mr. Cleary joins us for a special solo performance. \n\n\n\nJon Cleary’s love and affinity for New Orleans music goes back to the rural British village of Cranbrook\, Kent\, where he was raised in a musical family. Cleary’s maternal grandparents performed in London in the 1940s\, under the respective stage names Sweet Dolly Daydream and Frank Neville\, The Little Fellow With The Educated Feet – she as a singer\, and he as a crooner and tap dancer. \n\n\n\nAs a teen Cleary grew increasingly interested in funk-infused music and discovered that three such songs that he particularly admired – Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade\,” Robert Palmer’s version of “Sneakin’ Sally \n\n\n\nThrough the Alley\,” and Frankie Miller’s rendition of “Brickyard Blues” – were attributed to Allen Toussaint as either the songwriter\, the producer\, or both. Cleary’s knowledge of Toussaint’s work expanded significantly when his uncle returned home to the U.K.\, after a two-year sojourn in New Orleans\, with a copy of a Toussaint LP and two suitcases full of New Orleans R&B 45s. In 1981 Cleary flew to New Orleans for an initial pilgrimage and took a cab straight from the airport to the Maple Leaf Bar\, a storied venue which then featured such great blues-rooted eclectic pianists as Roosevelt Sykes and James Booker. Cleary first worked at the Maple Leaf as a painter\, but soon graduated to playing piano there even though his first instrument was the guitar\, which he still plays and has recently reintroduced into his live performances. \n\n\n\nAs word of Cleary’s burgeoning talent began to spread around town\, he was hired by such New Orleans R&B legends as Snooks Eaglin\, Earl “Trick Bag” King\, Johnny Adams\, and Jessie “Ooh Poo Pah Doo” Hill\, while also gaining the respect of the great Crescent City pianists Dr. John and the late Allen Toussaint\, himself. Years later\, in 2012\, Cleary recorded a critically acclaimed album of all Toussaint songs entitled Occapella. \n\n\n\nToday\, Cleary’s work pays obvious homage to the classic Crescent City keyboard repertoire created by such icons as Jelly Roll Morton\, Fats Domino\, Professor Longhair\, Art Neville\, Dr. John\, and James Booker – while also using it as a launching pad for a style that incorporates such other diverse influences as ’70s soul and R&B\, gospel music\, funk\, Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Cuban rhythms\, and much more. \n\n\n\nDeciding to stay in New Orleans\, Cleary recorded his first album of nine\, to date\, in 1989. \n\n\n\nHis ever-elevating profile led to global touring work in the bands of Taj Mahal\, John Scofield\, Dr. John\, and Bonnie Raitt. Cleary has led his own group\, the Absolute Monster Gentlemen\, for over two decades now\, but he still collaborates frequently with these old friends. At the 2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival\, for instance\, Cleary performed alongside Raitt in a heartfelt tribute to Fats Domino. \n\n\n\nLearn more about John Cleary: Website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, Youtube and Spotify \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 7:30pm // Show @ 8:00pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

September is Hispanic Heritage Month\, so we’re highlighting our Latine performers and showing how LGBTQ+ pride can be shared and celebrated across all cultures! ¡Estamos muy emocionados por celebrar la unidad de nuestras identidades! \n\n\n\nSapphire (Carson Muneton-Germano): Sapphire’s drag persona blends together in many ways with showing who she/he really is at heart\, even the silly parts. Sapphire began doing drag when the pandemic first hit in 2020 and it quickly became a way to express that inner beauty she/he had felt in her/his heart. He/she will give you glam and even a laugh. It’s actually Sapphire’s first time ever performing in-front of an audience in drag but she/he couldn’t be more honored to share the glam and the love w/ everyone. \n\n\n\nZamora (Aristotle Beachey): Zamora is an Intergalactic Genderless Jesus who’s drag blends\, shifts\, and reforms as she does. Zamora is new to the drag scene\, but has always thought of it as a “missing piece” in their life. Finally here\, fully queer\, Zamora is excited to show off how unconventional and fun both drag and life can be! \n\n\n\nZen Fatale (Trinity Stebleton): Zen Fatale is a self-described “Queen from Birth.” Zen Fatale has performed in drag since her teens. Long before bio/hyper Queens were mainstream\, she was lip-synching\, dancing and performing live. She is thrilled to “dust off” her drag\, and bring it to the valley she has called home for many years. \n\n\n\n Ramona Chingona (Bryan Alvarez-Terrazas): Ramona Chingona was born in Glenwood Springs and is a local diva. DESCRIPTION:Film Screening: The Holly + Conversation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:30PM | DOORS @ 6:30PM | SEATED SHOW \n\n\n\nFREE WITH RSVP \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented in partnership with Manaus.org’s Equity Action Project \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Film Screening: The Holly + Conversation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Film \n\n\n\nJoin us for a free screening of The Holly. This feature-length documentary\, filmed during the reporting of the 2022 Colorado Book Award-winner for nonfiction\, won the Audience Award at its premiere at the 2022 Telluride Mountain film festival. The film will be followed by a community conversation featuring the author/filmmaker and the film’s main subject. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale through Bookbinders. \n\n\n\nTHE HOLLY goes deep inside a gentrifying community in Denver\, where a shooting case involving an activist becomes a window into the political machinations of urban development and the city’s gang activity. \n\n\n\nTerrance Roberts is a former gang leader who appears to have escaped his past. After ten years in prison\, he returned to his historic Denver community as an activist whose work won him awards and made him the face of a high-profile redevelopment of one of the city’s civil rights landmarks\, Holly Square. But\, as the development was coming to fruition\, Roberts shocked the city by shooting a young gang member—at his own peace rally. \n\n\n\nJournalist Julian Rubinstein\, who grew up in Denver\, returns home to look into the case and finds himself caught up in a world of informants\, gang members\, activists and developers uneasily coexisting in a rapidly gentrifying community—while covertly working together on a federally funded law enforcement operation. As the city’s gang violence spikes and Roberts heads to trial facing life in prison\, dangerous truths about the cycle of violence and what happened on the day of the peace rally are revealed. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor more on the projects see: thehollybook.com and thehollyfilm.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 6:30pm // Show @ 7:30pm\n\n\n\nSeated event\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW\, and Manaus.org’s Equity Action Project

SUMMARY:Eli Paperboy Reed
DESCRIPTION:Eli Paperboy Reed\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:00PM \n\n\n\nFREE \n\n\n\nTHIS IS AN OUTDOOR EVENT AT LIONS PARK \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Eli Paperboy Reed \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Country \n\n\n\nEli “Paperboy” Reed is a survivor. He was one of the first of the new wave of singers and songwriters to embrace unabashedly soulful music and he has been tearing up stages all over the world with his heart- stopping falsetto screams for more than a decade with no plans to slow down. From humble musical beginnings growing up outside of Boston\, at 18 Reed moved to Clarksdale\, Mississippi and cut his teeth playing and singing in juke joints all over the Delta. From there he took the well-trod path to Chicago where he spent a year as minister of music the Southside church of Soul legend Mitty Collier. \n\n\n\nStarting in 2013 Reed began teaching at an after-school music education based in Harlem called for Gospel for Teens during his breaks from touring. The program worked with at-risk youth from around the New York City area and Reed specifically began teaching these young men about Gospel Quartet music\, its history and harmony. Out of those classes emerged a new project that Reed dubbed The Harlem Gospel Travelers. He produced\, arranged and played guitar on their debut album which came out on the revered soul label Colemine records in 2019 to rave reviews. Now The Harlem Gospel Travelers are at work on their second full-length and have begun conquering festival stages as well. \n\n\n\nNow approaching the 15-year mark in his career and finishing up his 8th album\, Reed has improbably become an elder statesman of the genre\, and he’s begun seeing new artists who are taking inspiration from his unique sound. A sound that\, over everything else\, prizes feeling\, energy\, and\, yes\, Soul. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Eli Paperboy Reed: Website\, Facebook\, Instagram\, Youtube\, or Spotify. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Show @ 7:00pm\n\n\n\nOutdoor Show\n\n\n\nLocation: Lions Park Downtown Basalt // 101 Midland Ave\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW & TOWN OF BASALT

It’s how I emote\,” Mendoza says. Armed with the emotionality of traditional música Mexicana and the storytelling of American folk\, Y La Bamba’s artistry is not just their musical ability but Mendoza’s search for unadulterated truth. It is in an ancestral\, spiritual journey in which Mendoza comes to terms with the influence and limitations of her upbringing. Mendoza’s experience of childhood summers in the San Joaquin Valley listening to mariachi\, of being raised strict Catholic by immigrant parents\, of being a woman having to prove herself to the boys\, paints strokes of both melancholy and healing. \n\n\n\nY La Bamba exists in the dimension of the Mexican American imagination: somewhere cynical and optimistic at the same time. While there is a celebration of the Mexican creativity that has informed Mendoza’s life\, there is a darker side to reconcile with. Where do mujeres fit in to the American story? What are the sins for which we are all guilty? How do different generations interact with the world? How can a culture become visible without tokenization? But it is not just Mendoza’s story. Challenging a narrative and dealing with the emotionality of that effort— that is everyone’s story. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Y La Bamba: Website\,  Facebook\, Instagram\, Twitter or Spotify. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMedia Sponsor \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 7:00pm // Show @ 8:00pm\n\n\n\nStanding Room Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\nMedia Sponsor: The Sopris Sun\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

SUMMARY:Son Volt
DESCRIPTION:SON VOLT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDOORS @ 7:00PM \n\n\n\n$22 MEMBERS | $25 IN ADVANCE | $35 DAY OF \n\n\n\nAt TACAW | STANDING ROOM SHOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPONSORED BY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT SON VOLT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Alt Country // Folk Rock // Americana \n\n\n\n2020 was not quite what Jay Farrar was expecting for the 25th anniversary of Son Volt\, the band he started in 1995 after leaving the seminal group Uncle Tupelo\, whose No Depression album helped define the alt-country and Americana genre. The group had just finished an Outlaw Country Cruise when the pandemic hit and sent them into their homes on lockdown. \n\n\n\nInstead of a triumphant tour marking the illustrious landmark\, Farrar was forced indoors by the pandemic\, and his “Reverie” during that time helped define Electro Melodier\, Son Volt’s 10th studio album – and third for influential Nashville indie Thirty Tigers. The title\, taken from the names of two vintage amplifiers from the late ‘40s and early ‘50s\, also describes the disc’s unique blend of folk\, country\, blues\, soul and rock – an electric troubadour with melodies that hit and stick. Social protest songs like “Living in the U.S.A.” and “The Globe\,” the former about the promises of this nation gone wrong\, the latter referencing the street protests accompanying the Black Lives Matter movement\, exist side by side with odes to long-term relationships (specifically his 25-year marriage) in “Diamonds and Cigarettes” and “Lucky Ones.” \n\n\n\nOnce again accompanied by the current Son Volt line up – keyboardist/steel guitarist Mark Spencer\, bassist Andrew Duplantis\, guitarist Chris Frame and drummer Mark Patterson – Farrar takes a slight turn from 2019’s politically pointed Union to a series of songs that asks questions rather than demanding answers – think of “Living in the U.S.A.” as Farrar’s version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.\,” Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” or Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power\,” an anthem to unite the populace. \n\n\n\n“I had more time to devote to and concentrate on the writing\,” says Farrar about his enforced quarantine. “We were fortunate in that we had just released Union and toured the country\, so we were off cycle. It was still a rough year\, but as a songwriter\, I was able to make the most of it.” \n\n\n\nOne listen to Electro Melodier\, which opens with “Reverie\,” describing Farrar’s contemplative state gazing out his window\, enlivened with Mark Spencer’s “Wichita Lineman” guitar riffs and the lush Big Star melodies\, and you wonder why no other rock ‘n’ roll bands or singer/songwriters are making albums like this about what we’re all going through. \n\n\n\n“I wanted to concentrate on the melodies which got me into music in the first place\,” says Farrar. “I wanted politics to take a back seat this time\, but it always seems to find a way back in there.” \n\n\n\nListen to the Moog line from The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” channeled in “The Globe\,” or the Led Zeppelin homage in “Someday Is Now\,” the nod to gut-bucket Mississippi delta blues in the Lightnin’ Hopkins low-tuned guitar stylings of “War on Misery” or Spencer’s haunting slide on the funereal dirge of “The Levee On Down\,” which takes Andrew Jackson to task for everything from the “Trail of Tears” massacre of the Cherokees to his face on the $20 bill instead of Harriet Tubman. The environmentally conscious “Arkey Blue” nods to a honky-tonk in Bandera\, TX\, Arkey Blue’s Silver Dollar\, where Hank Williams\, Sr. allegedly carved his name into one of the wood tables\, and even quotes Pope Francis on “turbulent rains never before seen.” \n\n\n\n“I’m just asking the same question\, how can so much go wrong in a country that is held up as an example to the world of something righteous\,” explains Farrar about songs like “Living in the U.S.A.\,” in which you can hear doomsaying prophecies like Barry McGuire’s “Eve of Destruction” set to the guitar riffs of Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane.” \n\n\n\nStill based in St. Louis (“It kinda makes sense as a central location for touring because all the interstates connect through here”)\, Farrar was born in Belleville\, IL\, where he formed Uncle Tupelo with his high school classmate Jeff Tweedy. “We had similar musical interests and took it from there\,” says Jay modestly about the groundbreaking group. \n\n\n\nFarrar is grateful to his wife of 25 years\, a sentiment which he expresses lovingly on “Diamonds and Cigarettes” – featuring vocals by country singer Laura Cantrell\, along with songs like the soulful “Lucky Ones” and “Sweet Refrain\,” a song that captures the spirit of Bentonia\, Mississippi\, home of Skip James along with name checks for local legends Jimmy “Duck” Holmes and the Bluefront Cafe. “These are the Times” was recorded entirely remotely by Zoom\, signaling one of the new methods of making music ushered in by Covid. \n\n\n\n“It’s a good time to take stock of what’s lost and what’s gained\,” said Farrar. “At this point\, we’re not even sure what we’re going to get back.” \n\n\n\nThe songs of Electro Melodier help remind us to be thankful of what we still have – new music from Jay Farrar and Son Volt. \n\n\n\n“Daylight brings the clues to the world to life/Make or break gotta do what it takes to survive.” “Sweet Refrain” \n\n\n\nLearn more about Son Volt: Website\, Facebook\, Instagram\, Twitter\, Spotify or Youtube. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT JACK BROADBENT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn each album\, Jack Broadbent is used to people saying\, “Oh\, this is a departure from your previous stuff.” That’s something the British-born singer\, songwriter and guitarist has heard to varying degrees\, over the course of his six albums to date\, and is certainly fitting of his latest release\, RIDE. As someone who is as connected to the quality of his relationships with people as he is to the quality of his music\, rest assured he considers that a compliment. \n\n\n\n“I think there’s a lot of variety on my records. This is no different\,” Broadbent says. “I’m really getting a sense now that this idea of genre and where you fit in is not as important as it used to be — which I think is good.” \n\n\n\nBroadbent grew up in rural Lincolnshire\, England. His earliest influence\, his father\, Mick Broadbent\, plays bass on RIDE and is a well-established musician\, including a tenure with Bram Tchaikovsky. “I fell in love with music at a young age\,” he says\, informed by the steady diet of music played around the house. His father would take Broadbent to open mic nights as a youth\, and by his early teens he was playing drums in his dad’s bands. Broadbent gravitated to guitar around the same time as he became interested in song writing. \n\n\n\n“Being a drummer\, I tried to develop a very rhythmic approach to my guitar playing\,” Broadbent recalls. “What interested me was being able to hold down a groove and do some gymnastics to incorporate solos and subtle bass lines.” \n\n\n\nBroadbent’s slide guitar playing evolved from the busking he did during his early 20s. “It seemed to appeal to people as something that was both visually and musically exciting. This was interesting to me\,” Broadbent explains. “I was already playing in altered and open tunings\, so when it came to using a slide I was well-versed in how those patterns worked together.” He took some cues from influences such as John Lee Hooker and Little Feat\, but ultimately Broadbent says\, “I never really wanted to emulate anybody else’s style\, which is why I ended up going down a slightly more hard-hitting\, brash\, kind of route in my playing.” \n\n\n\nBroadbent found acclaim and an audience after the Montreux Jazz Festival hailed him as\, “The new master of the slide guitar.” Bootsy Collins famously proclaimed him\, “The real thang!” He won over more fans touring with the likes of Ronnie Wood\, Peter Frampton\, and other musical legends. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Jack Broadbent: Website\, Facebook\, Instagram\, Twitter\, AppleMusic or Youtube. \n\n\n\nVideos: \n\n\n\nRide: https://youtu.be/6W1KMdExctYMidnight Radio: https://youtu.be/1-yVES-AE1QOn the Road Again (Live): https://youtu.be/pJxkdmBm010 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 7:00pm\n\n\n\nSponsored by Umbrella Roofing\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

SUMMARY:The Travelin' McCourys
DESCRIPTION:The Travelin’ McCourys: \n\n\n\nThe Grateful Ball\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00PM // DOORS @ 7:00PM // STANDING ROOM \n\n\n\n$27 MEMBERS | $30 IN ADVANCE | $40 DAY OF \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPONSORED BY Be Hippy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE TRAVELIN’ MCCOURYS: THE GRATEFUL BALL \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGenre: Bluegrass / Jam \n\n\n\nPlaying one set of The Travelin’ McCourys music and one set of Grateful Dead music. \n\n\n\nFrom a source deep\, abundant\, and pure\, the river flows. It’s there on the map\, marking place and time. Yet\, the river changes as it remains a constant\, carving away at the edges\, making new pathways\, gaining strength as it progresses forward. The Travelin’ McCourys are that river. \n\n\n\nThe McCoury brothers- Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) – were born into the bluegrass tradition. Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father\, Del\, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops\, and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st century music. \n\n\n\n“If you put your mind\, your skills\, and your ability to it\, I think you can make just about anything work on bluegrass instruments\,” says Ronnie. “That’s a really fun part of this- figuring the new stuff out and surprising the audience.” \n\n\n\nWith fiddler Jason Carter\, bassist Alan Bartram\, and latest recruit Cody Kilby on guitar\, they assembled a group that could take what they had in their DNA\, take what traditions they learned and heard\, and push the music forward. In fact\, the band became the only group to have each of its members recognized with an International Bluegrass Music Association Award for their instrument at least once. There were peers\, too\, that could see bluegrass as both historic and progressive. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Allman Brothers Band\, improv-rock kings Phish\, and jamband contemporary Keller Williams were just a few that formed a mutual admiration society with the ensemble. \n\n\n\nThe band played the Allman’s Wanee Festival\, and guitarist Warren Haynes’ Christmas jam- an annual holiday homecoming of Southern music. An early-years jam with the Lee Boys was hailed by many as the highlight of the evening\, and with the video catching fire online\, earned a legion of new\, young fans of their supercharged combination of sacred steel\, R&B\, and bluegrass. There were unforgettable collaborations with country smash Dierks Bentley\, and onstage magic\, jamming with titans String Cheese Incident and Phish\, cutting an album with Keller (Pick)\, and creating the Grateful Ball- a tribute concert-turned-tour bridging bluegrass with the iconic music of the Grateful Dead. \n\n\n\n“That’s something that’s part of us being who we are\,” says Ronnie. “It comes\, too\, with us plugging in. It gets louder\, for sure. We can’t be another version of our dad’s band. It wouldn’t make any sense for us to do that.” \n\n\n\nTheir concerts became can’t-miss events\, whether headlining historic venues or as festival favorites\, drawing the love and respect of a growing fanbase craving their eclectic repertoire. At the 2016 edition of DelFest\, an annual gathering of the genre’s best aptly named for the McCoury patriarch\, the band delivered the take-away highlight. Rolling Stone called it “a sublime combination of rock and bluegrass\, contemporary and classic\, old and young. The best set of the festival…” The river was going new places\, getting stronger. It was time to re-draw the map. \n\n\n\n“We’ve tried to pick songs we think people are going to enjoy\,” says Ronnie. “Something we learned from our dad is that a good song is a good song. It can be done in any way.” \n\n\n\nSo arrives the long-awaited\, self-titled debut album from the quintet. A brilliantly executed set overflowing with inventive style\, stellar musicianship\, and\, of course\, plenty of burnin’ grass\, the 14-song collection is a true culmination of their decades-long journey. From the headwaters of Bill Monroe and the waves of Jerry Garcia to a sound both rooted and revolutionary\, soulful and transcending that belongs only to the Travelin’ McCourys. \n\n\n\n“The album definitely shows what we’ve evolved into as a band. And\, it’s a pretty good representation of what’s happening with the whole genre\,” says Rob. “The old bluegrass material is something I love but it’s been done many times. We’re forging ahead with our own sound. That’s what you have to do to make it all work.” \n\n\n\n…and the accolades continue to come. The Travelin’ McCourys were honored by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2018 as the Instrumental Group of the Year. They were further feted in February 2019 with the Grammy Award for Bluegrass Album of the Year. \n\n\n\nLearn more about The Travelin’ McCourys: The Grateful Ball: Website\, Facebook\, Instagram\, Twitter\, Youtube or Spotify. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open @ 7:00pm // Show @ 8:00pm\n\n\n\nStanding Show\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW
