SUMMARY:YOUR BRAIN\, ONSTAGE! / SUMMER CAMP
DESCRIPTION:YOUR BRAIN\, ONSTAGE! / Summer Camp\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAges: 11 – 13 \n\n\n\nPrice: $375 | Limited spots available \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR BRAIN\, ONSTAGE!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrain Science takes center stage in this unique camp encompassing brain science and theater arts! The week-long camp for rising 4th – 6th graders culminates in a performance at TACAW for an invitation-only guest audience. Students will participate in experiential learning by putting neuroscience on its feet for an audience. This camp takes the concept ‘if you can explain it then you’ve really got it’ to a new level…if you can ACT it then you’ve REALLY got it! Participants will take away observable knowledge of brain function along with skills and tools to help them self-regulate\, manage behavior\, and thrive – on stage and off! \n\n\n\nThe week’s activities will consist of theater and acting classes\, and rehearsing the FocusedKids “Brain Play” and will have opportunities for “non-performers” to participate in costume and set construction. Supplementary to the theater components of the camp students will learn about the brain\, its parts\, and their respective functions and also participate in engaging neuroscience lessons developed by the Aspen Science Center. This unique offering will engage students with an interest in science and the arts alike. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION | Your Brain Onstage Camp\n\n\n\nRegistración | Tu Cerebro\, En el Escenario\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease reach out to Art Williams at awilliams@tacaw.org if you have any questions. With the songs Loggins presented leaning more toward folk (a style Messina felt could resign Loggins to the “past”)\, Messina suggested to Columbia Records president Clive Davis that he consider letting Messina “sit in” in much the same way that jazz artists had done in the past\, and that Loggins incorporate more upbeat material into his album. \n\n\n\nSays Loggins: “Right from the beginning\, Jimmy was the producer\, I was the artist. I’d never made a record. I’d never put a band together. I’d never found a manager or an agent. So\, Jimmy was the leader…” Leading the way as producer\, arranger\, vocalist\, and guitarist\, and contributing the signature songs “Listen To A Country Song” (subsequently also recorded by country music legend Lynn Anderson who had a #3 hit with the song in 1972) “Nobody But You\,” “Same Old Wine” and “Peace Of Mind” (from “Trilogy”) the album Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin’ In was released one year later in November of 1971 and an accidental duo was born. \n\n\n\nIn the next few years\, a series of albums would follow in rapid order: 1972’s Loggins & Messina\, 1973’s Full Sail\, 1974’s double-live On Stage\, the same year’s Mother Lode\, 1975’s cover song set So Fine and 1976’s Native Sons. When the dust had settled\, Loggins & Messina had sold sixteen million albums\, become one of rock’s biggest live draws\, and cemented their legacy as one of the most successful recording duos ever.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the split with Loggins\, Messina recorded four critically acclaimed solo albums: 1979’s sublime Latin rock with a touch of jazz album Oasis; 1981’s eponymous Messina featuring guest performances by Jeff Pocaro\, Joe Pocaro and Victor Feldman; 1983’s One More Mile; and 1996’s re-imagined retrospective of concert favorites Watching The River Run Revisited.  \n\n\n\nMost recently\, Messina has released two live albums. In 2010 he released both a DVD and CD entitled Jim Messina “LIVE” at The Clark Center for the Performing Arts. It contains the video and audio performances of his musical body of works\, those he performed with The Buffalo Springfield\, Poco and Loggins and Messina\, including a number of his newest songs such as She’s Gotta Rock and Sinners and Saints. \n\n\n\nNow\, nearly 50 years after first stepping into the studio with Stephen Stills\, Neil Young and Richie Furay to engineer Buffalo Springfield Again\, Jim Messina is hitting the road with guitar in hand to tell the stories and sing the songs that made Buffalo Springfield\, Poco\, and Loggins & Messina\, iconic American groups. \n\n\n\nConcludes Messina: “The road most traveled in my innocence was with this band of poets\, and is the same road that “Twists and Turns” as I journey along my musical road of life. For two decades\, McBride has documented the Colorado River\, from source to sea and always with a camera in hand. \n\n\n\nThrough McBride’s photography and his own words\, as well as essays on climate change and river overuse\, we witness the stark reality of our water crisis but also the remarkable beauty and resilience of this ephemeral source of life. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Pete McBride \n\n\n\nNative Coloradan Pete McBride has spent two decades studying the world with a camera. An award-winning photographer\, filmmaker\, writer\, and public speaker\, he is a Sony Artisan of Light and has traveled on assignment to more than 75 countries for the National Geographic Society\, Smithsonian\, Outside\, Google\, USAID and many others. He has spoken on stages for TEDx\, The World Economic Forum\, Pixar\, Nat Geo Live\, and more. Join us for June’s premier dance party featuring live musical performances by this year’s host\, N3PTUNE. Good times\, indeed! \n\n\n\nNamed the Best Breakout Artist of 2023 by Westword Magazine\, N3PTUNE is an explosive queer multi-hyphenate hailing from Denver\, CO. Heavily influenced by his upbringing in the Baptist Church\, N3PTUNE alongside his co-producer and virtuoso guitarist RSTY merge the essence of gospel\, blues\, and soul into an amalgamation of pop music as only their minds can create. Their songs are bold and brash\, and their live performances are immersive and raw to the point where Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss likened the experience to “seeing Prince live for the first time” and proceeded to invite them to tour with them on the spot. \n\n\n\nTheir quick ascent from the local DIY scene to selling out shows and performing on some of Denver’s biggest stages like Red Rocks\, Ball Arena Halftime Show for the Nuggets\, and supporting the likes of Cordae\, Matt & Kim\, Rina Sawayama\, Wyclef Jean\, Sleigh Bells\, KennyHoopla\, Aluna and others\, has made N3PTUNE + RSTY staples in Denver’s music scene. Not only that\, but their penchant for pushing fashion and performance art in visuals and live performances has allowed them to carve a lane for themselves\, unlike anything that has come before. RENAISSANCE\, their first collaboration arrived on December 10\, 2021\, to critical acclaim. The project produced major singles in “Black Horse” and “White Pony” both of which received significant syndicated radio play\, and the latter getting prominent co-signs on Spotify’s Nu-Blue playlist and others. \n\n\n\nN3PTUNE + RSTY supported the album by touring the East Coast alongside Sleigh Bells in August 2022. After major performances at festivals like Electric Forest and Capitol Hill Block Party in 2023\, N3PTUNE + RSTY will be releasing their long-awaited debut album\, in early 2025. \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / YOUTUBE / SPOTIFY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:30 pm / DOORS @ 8:00 pm\n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / 21+\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

Outside her home in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley\, she listens to the language of birds\, notices patterns of migration and sees the cosmos in the countryside. For Spears\, nature offers a constant invitation to open the aperture of life to something wider\, something wilder. Her forthcoming album\, “The Hymn of Wild Things\,” (out June 7) chronicles her experience of wonder\, loss and metamorphosis. This is a collection of songs about the intimate corners of humanity\, hers and ours alike. With a quiver of instruments (banjo\, piano\, guitar)\, she threads opposites together: love with loss; tradition with innovation; and the human experience with the more-than-human world. \n\n\n\nNatalie Spears will be joined by a full band in addition to guest appearances from the Paonia based “Singing Bone” shadow puppet troupe. \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / INSTAGRAM / YOUTUBE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSEATED SHOW / ALL AGES\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLimit of 4 tickets per purchaser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: The Arts Campus At Willits

SUMMARY:Sarah Jarosz: Polaroid Lovers Tour
DESCRIPTION:Sarah Jarosz: Polaroid Lovers Tour\n\n\n\nW/ LIV GREENE \n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n$46 MEMBERS / $55 ADVANCE / $65 DAY OF \n\n\n\nSTANDING ROOM SHOW / ALL AGES \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnderwritten by \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT Sarah Jarosz: Polaroid Lovers Tour\n\n\n\nFour-time GRAMMY winner Sarah Jarosz has announced her new album\, Polaroid Lovers. The record is set for release on January 26th\, 2024 via Rounder Records. To mark the occasion she has shared the album opener\, “Jealous Moon\,” and its companion video. WATCH HERE. The song finds Jarosz backed by a decidedly more electric band\, with her Texas lilt as clear and evocative as ever. Polaroid Lovers is available for pre-order today digitally and on vinyl with gray\, lavender\, orange and green splatter variants. Indie retailers will also have a special blue and green splatter vinyl. For more information visit https://store.sarahjarosz.com/ \n\n\n\nSarah Jarosz on “Jealous Moon” \n\n\n\nI wrote this song with Daniel Tashian in Monteagle\, TN on a screened in porch with birds chirping all around. It was a warm summer afternoon. It started as a quiet melody on ukulele and nylon string guitar\, but when we got to the studio it became something much more powerful. It’s a song about the times when the parts of ourselves that we try to keep hidden rise to the surface and we have no choice but to ride the wave. Sometimes that means doing your own thing to figure it out so you can emerge stronger on the other side. It’s not about the end of a relationship\, but rather a moment of self reflection and a promise to keep showing up even when things get tough. Once Daniel played the opening riff on piano I knew it had to open the album. I’m always seeking to push myself into new sonic territory\, and this song gave me permission to not hold back. \n\n\n\nThe seventh album from Sarah Jarosz finds the highly decorated songwriter at the apex of change. A Texas native\, she’s spent most of her adult life living in New York City\, but shortly before writing the album Jarosz left her adopted home to join her soon-to-be husband in Nashville\, TN. The geographic shake-up led to a sonic one as well for Polaroid Lovers. For the first time in her career she opened herself up to collaborators\, leading to writing sessions with Daniel Tashian\, Ruston Kelly and Natalie Hemby. The creative reorganization of her writing process evolved to include a much richer and more electric sound in the studio and being in Nashville meant access to a world of hot shot players. She tapped guitarist Rob McNelley (Miranda Lambert\, Carrie Underwood)\, Tom Bukovac (Tom Petty\, Vince Gill) on guitar and organ\, her husband- bassist Jeff Picker (Nickel Creek)\, and drummer Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow\, Lucinda Williams) for the album recording. Tashian took the helm as producer and the whole album was laid down at the legendary Sound Emporium. \n\n\n\nAs it goes with all change\, Jarosz’s major life events had her feeling contemplative. While sitting on the precipice of adulthood\, Polaroid Lovers finds her reflecting on past loves\, childhood dreams\, the places she lived in and all the versions of herself that she’s been. Although the listener experiences the sonic shift forward\, the album’s subject matter is a photo album of the past. Jarosz has never sounded more assured. Polaroid Lovers is filled with the kind of confidence that comes from hard won life experiences and the conviction of someone who truly knows herself. \n\n\n\nSarah Jarosz released her debut album at the age of 18 and was immediately nominated for her first GRAMMY. Raised in Texas\, she began playing mandolin at age 10 and soon after guitar and banjo. To date\, she has released six studio albums\, has netted ten GRAMMY Nominations and four wins. In 2018\, she joined Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek and Aoife O’Donovan to form the supergroup\, I’m With Her. The group released their debut album See You Around\, and won duo/group of the year at the Americana Awards. Their song\, “Call My Name” won the GRAMMY for Best American Roots song. \n\n\n\nMore About Sarah Jarosz and Polaroid Lovers: \n\n\n\nThe seventh full-length from four-time Grammy Award-winner Sarah Jarosz\, Polaroid Lovers is an album-long meditation on those strangely ephemeral moments that indelibly shape our lives. “What I love about a Polaroid is that it’s capturing something so fleeting\, but at the same time it makes that moment last forever\,” says the Texas-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. “It made sense as a title for a record where all the songs are snapshots of different love stories\, and there’s a feeling of time being expansive despite that impermanence.” Thanks to the rarefied alchemy that infuses all of Jarosz’s output — her finely wrought lyricism\, ravishing vocal work\, virtuosic yet unfettered musicality — Polaroid Lovers performs the much-needed magic of leading us toward a heightened sense of presence\, all while casting a lovely spell with her timelessly powerful songs. \n\n\n\nThe follow-up to 2020’s studio album World on the Ground (winner of the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album) and 2021’s song cycle Blue Heron Suite\, Polaroid Lovers embodies a bold new vitality that has much to do with a deliberate shift in Jarosz’s writing process and sonic approach. “Historically I’ve been somewhat closed off to co-writing\, but in the past couple of years I’ve felt curious to get out of my comfort zone\,” says the newly Nashville-based artist\, who released her debut album at just 18-years-old. “For a long time it was important to me to write for myself\, so that I wouldn’t get lost in those rooms full of amazing writers. But now that I’m more confident in my musical identity\, I know I can collaborate but still stay true to my own voice.” In one of her first co-writing sessions for Polaroid Lovers\, Jarosz joined forces with Daniel Tashian (a songwriter/musician/producer known for his multi-award-winning work on Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour) and immediately felt an undeniable creative connection. “Daniel and I were both so excited by the idea of creating a new sound together\, and he pushed me in ways I felt completely ready for and open to\,” she says. “It felt really good to allow myself that freedom\, and to take that leap into something new.” \n\n\n\nProduced by Tashian at the legendary Sound Emporium\, Polaroid Lovers took shape as Jarosz recorded live with musicians like guitarist Rob McNelley (Miranda Lambert\, Carrie Underwood)\, Tom Bukovac (Tom Petty\, Vince Gill) on guitar and organ\, her husband bassist Jeff Picker (Nickel Creek)\, and drummer Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow\, Lucinda Williams)\, carving out a viscerally potent but resplendent brand of folk-rock. Along with layering in such delicately crafted details as otherworldly textures and luminous synth tones\, Jarosz and Tashian forged the album’s singular sound by foregrounding her spirited performance on octave mandolin. “Out of everything I play\, the octave mandolin is definitely my soulmate\,” says Jarosz\, who first took up mandolin at age nine\, quickly gained major acclaim in the bluegrass world\, and also plays guitar and banjo throughout Polaroid Lovers. “I started playing it when I was 16\, and that’s when I started writing songs that truly felt like me — there’s something about the tonality that really lets my voice shine through.” \n\n\n\nWith her co-writers on Polaroid Lovers also including artists like Ruston Kelly\, Natalie Hemby\, and Sarah Buxton as well as heavy-hitters like Jon Randall (Miranda Lambert\, Emmylou Harris) and Gordie Sampson (Willie Nelson\, Trisha Yearwood)\, Jarosz opens the album on “Jealous Moon”: a gloriously soaring and exquisitely nuanced track that instantly sweeps the listener up in its bristling emotionality. “That song is about the parts of ourselves that we try to keep hidden\, and the moments when they rise to the surface and we just have to ride the wave\,” says Jarosz\, who co-wrote “Jealous Moon” with Tashian on a trip to his family’s summer house in Monteagle\, Tennessee. “Daniel and I call it our little Monteagle song that could — it started off with me playing ukulele and him playing nylon-string guitar on the porch\, then blossomed into this very powerful song that knocked me off my feet.” \n\n\n\nNext\, on “When the Lights Go Out\,” Jarosz shares the sweetly lilting reverie that gave the album its title (from the first verse: “In a dream we were Polaroid lovers/In the deep where the edges don’t lie”). “I wrote that song with Jon Randall and Gordie Sampson\, who suggested we try something in a 6/8 time signature — which is such a simple idea\, but took us in a direction I might never have gone otherwise\,” she says. “To me the lyrics are a way of asking someone you’re intrigued by\, ‘Who are you when all the shine and attention isn’t on you anymore? Who are you really?'” Another track co-written with Randall\, “Runaway Train” kicks the album into high gear as Jarosz serves up a bright and soulful love song built on a wildly sing-along-ready chorus (“You’ve got a heart like a runaway train/Screaming down the mountainside/Burning like a fever that you can’t contain/Humming like the 405”). “Coming out of the pandemic and playing shows again\, I realized that a lot of the more uptempo songs in my set were covers\,” she says. “I wanted to write a love song that would give people that joyful feeling\, and Jon and I had so much fun playing with all those images of California and Colorado and Texas Hill Country\, which is where I grew up.” \n\n\n\nOne of the most poignant moments on Polaroid Lovers\, “Columbus & 89th” drifts into a dreamlike beauty as Jarosz reflects on the ineffable heartache of leaving her longtime home of New York City back in 2020. “New York signified this childhood dream that I’d had for so long\, so moving to Nashville was like turning the page from youth to adulthood\,” she says. “‘Columbus & 89th’ ended up just pouring out of me once Daniel and I started working on it — there was so much nostalgia and melancholy that I needed to process\, and now I still tear up whenever I hear it. As a songwriter my main goal is to tell the truth about my experience\, and I think the fact that that song makes me so emotional means that I was tapping into real feeling.” Written on the same trip that yielded “Columbus & 89th” (a journey to Alabama’s Orange Beach with Tashian’s family)\, “Days Can Turn Around” unfolds as a gently swaying folk song threaded with warmly delivered instruction for living well no matter what the circumstances (e.g.\, “Never turn down cold champagne/Don’t change your plans for a little rain”). “Both of those songs have similar themes of thinking back and looking forward\, but trying your best to be in the moment\,” says Jarosz. “With ‘Days Can Turn Around\,’ I wanted to talk about all those little gems of wisdom you hear from you parents that end up taking on a whole new meaning when you finally become an adult.” \n\n\n\nAs Jarosz reveals\, her very first co-writing session with Tashian helped draw out the deep-rooted confidence that informed all of the album’s creation. “That first day Daniel and I worked together we wrote a song called ‘Take the High Road\,’ which is about taking the time to really know yourself and get comfortable in your own skin\, even if it might take a little longer to get to where you want to be\,” she says. “There was something so beautiful about that being the first song we wrote for this album — it gave me the push I needed to not be afraid\, to move beyond the boundaries and explore new sounds.” A widely beloved musician whose past efforts include teaming up with fellow singer/songwriters Sara Watkins and Aoife O’Donovan to form the Grammy Award-winning trio I’m With Her — as well as appearing on albums by iconic artists like David Crosby and Amy Ray of Indigo Girls — Jarosz derived a particularly profound sense of purpose from the highly collaborative process behind Polaroid Lovers. “Maybe more than any record I’ve ever made\, I felt so present and hyper-emotional with this album because I believed in it so much\,” she says. “It was so joyful to work with all these writers and musicians\, and I think that joy really comes through.” \n\n\n\nLooking back on the making of Polaroid Lovers\, Jarosz notes that shaking up her process ultimately left her eager to further expand her creative horizons. “It was a big step for me to reach out to Daniel\, but in the end it showed me how important it is to keep taking thoughtful chances\,” she says. “This whole album reminded me that I never want to play it safe — if anything\, I want there to always be that element of being a little scared\, because that means I’m taking a risk. In a way that’s what’s so wonderful about art: if you’re lucky\, you never reach the finish line. You just keep searching and chiseling away at the stone\, and putting everything you can into making something that tells the truth but hopefully leaves space for others to find meaning too.” \n\n\n\nLearn more: Website / Facebook / Instagram / YouTube / Spotify \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLIV GREENE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLiv Greene is a queer Americana singer\, songwriter\, producer\, and guitarist\, whose music “envelops a forlorn loneliness that’s at once poignant and crushing.” – American Songwriter. Inspired by the records spun in her childhood home in DC—brilliant women of song like Patty Griffin\, Shawn Colvin\, Brandi Carlile\, Lucinda Williams\, and Ella Fitzgerald— Greene’s passion for storytelling started early and took off the moment she taught herself her first guitar chords at 12. Over summers in high school\, Greene journeyed north for fiddle camps and bluegrass festivals\, and found herself in love with the New England folk scene\, influencing her decision to sharpen her craft through four years at New England Conservatory. Upon graduating in 2020\, Greene quietly released her first album\, Every Bright Penny\, aptly-named both as an homage to its crowdfunded conception\, but also to the reverence of small things and the flashes of hope that live in its lyrics. The record was produced by friend and mentor Isa Burke (Aoife O’Donovan\, Lula Wiles)\, and featured a band of mostly women\, creating the perfect environment for Greene to grow and begin envisioning herself in new roles in the studio. Now living in Nashville\, Greene just finished work on her second album\, which had her stepping into the role of producer for the first time. With the help of her friend and mentor\, engineer Matt Andrews (Gillian Welch)\, Greene has woven a record of deeply honest writing\, sparse lyric-driven arrangements\, and stunning live to tape performances\, with the lilty earnesty of her voice flowing over it all. \n\n\n\nLearn more: Website / Facebook / Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nStanding Room Show | All Ages\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

As a result\, Dr. Hall worked extensively on dark sky preservation in Flagstaff and throughout Arizona; his dedication resulted in Flagstaff becoming the World’s First International Dark Sky City in 2001.  \n\n\n\nThis program is a free event sponsored by the Snowmass Capitol Creek Caucus in partnership with TACAW to champion our quest to become the first certified International Dark Sky Community in the Roaring Fork Valley\, advocating for awareness and action valley-wide to reduce local light pollution. \n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Jeffrey Hall \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Jeffrey Hall received a B.A. in Physics in 1986 from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Astronomy & Astrophysics in 1991 from the Pennsylvania State University. He joined the staff of Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff\, Arizona in 1992 as a postdoctoral research fellow\, specializing in stellar astrophysics and the variations of the Sun and sun-like stars. In 1998\, he became the Observatory’s Associate Director for Education and Special Programs\, and since 2010\, has served as Executive Director. In 2015\, the Observatory completed construction and commissioning of the $53M Lowell Discovery Telescope (LDT); and in 2023\, the Observatory completed a $53M capital campaign to build the Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation Astronomy Discovery Center (ADC)\, scheduled to open in late 2024. In the past dozen years\, Lowell has received well over $100M through University partnerships for access to the LDT; through foundation\, corporate\, and individual gifts in support of the ADC; and through philanthropic contributions to many other programs. \n\n\n\nSince 2012\, Dr. Hall has worked extensively on dark sky preservation in Flagstaff and around Arizona\, focusing in particular on best practice in outdoor lighting using LEDs. From 2017 to 2022\, he served as Chair of the Society’s standing committee on Light Pollution\, Radio Interference\, and Space Debris. He also co-organized the international SATCON1 (2020) and SATCON2 (2021) workshops\, which brought astronomers\, engineers\, industry\, and many others together to discuss the impacts of satellite constellations on astronomy and on casual observation of the night sky. \n\n\n\nAbout Pete McBride \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPete McBride\, born and raised in Old Snowmass\, has spent two decades studying the world with a camera. A self-taught photographer\, filmmaker\, writer and public speaker\, he has traveled on assignment to over 75 countries for the National Geographic Society\, Smithsonian\, Google\, The Nature Conversancy and spoken on stages for TEDx\, The World Economic Forum\, USAID\, Nat Geo Live and more. \n\n\n\nAbout Snowmass Capitol Creek Caucus: \n\n\n\nEstablished in 1974 by visionary residents\, we are a non-profit neighborhood organization. Our mission is to preserve the rural character of our unique valleys\, to protect their ecosystems\, and to foster communication and participation within our community. The Caucus advises the Pitkin County Commissioners on issues related to the County. Pitkin County refers Caucus-area land use issues to the Caucus board for its advice. \n\n\n\nWe have effectively pursued projects to protect healthy stream flows in our creeks and advocate for the health of our wildlife communities and the wild sky overhead. \n\n\n\nAbout WildSky Old Snowmass: \n\n\n\nOur mission is to preserve and protect Old Snowmass’ nighttime environment and heritage of dark skies by raising awareness\, providing education and information about light pollution and advocating for environmentally responsible outdoor lighting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 7:00 pm / DOORS @ 6:00 pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show / All Ages\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

His remarkable journey has seen him embrace folk\, jazz\, rock\, and worldbeat styles while travelling to such far-flung places as Guatemala\, Mali\, Mozambique\, and Nepal\, and writing memorable songs about his ever-expanding world of wonders. “My job\,” he explains\, “is to try and trap the spirit of things in the scratches of pen on paper and the pulling of notes out of metal.” \n\n\n\nThat scratching and pulling has earned Cockburn high praise as an exceptional songwriter and a revered guitarist. His songs of romance\, protest\, and spiritual discovery are among the best to have emerged from Canada over the last 50 years. His guitar playing\, both acoustic and electric\, has placed him in the company of the world’s top instrumentalists. And he remains deeply respected for his activism on issues from native rights and land mines to the environment and Third World debt\, working for organizations such as Oxfam\, Amnesty International\, Doctors Without Borders\, and Friends of the Earth. \n\n\n\nThroughout his career\, Cockburn has deftly captured the joy\, pain\, fear\, and faith of human experience in song. Whether singing about retreating to the country or going up against chaos\, tackling imperialist lies or embracing ecclesiastical truths\, he has always expressed a tough yet hopeful stance: to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight. “We can’t settle for things as they are\,” he once warned. “If you don’t tackle the problems\, they’re going to get worse.” For his many achievements\, the Ottawa-born artist has been honoured with 13 Juno Awards\, an induction into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame\, as well as the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award\, and has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada. But he never rests on his laurels. \n\n\n\n“I’d rather think about what I’m going to do next\,” says Cockburn. “My models for graceful aging are guys like John Lee Hooker and Mississippi John Hurt\, who never stop working till they drop\, as I fully expect to be doing\, and just getting better as musicians and as human beings.” His commitment to growth has made Bruce Cockburn both an exemplary citizen and a legendary artist whose prized songbook will be celebrated for many years to come. \n\n\n\nLearn more: Website / Facebook / Spotify \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW @ 8:00 pm / DOORS @ 7:00 pm\n\n\n\nSeated Show / All Ages\n\n\n\nALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL\n\n\n\nLocation: TACAW\, 400 Robinson St\, Basalt\, CO 81621\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented By: TACAW

The film chronicles the budding “Regenerative Agriculture” movement\, a type of farming based on working with nature\, instead of against it. \n\n\n\nDirected by eco-filmmaking duo\, Josh Tickell and Rebecca Tickell\, (Fuel\, The Big Fix\, Kiss the Ground)\, the new film features appearances and narration by notable Hollywood talent including Laura Dern\, Jason Momoa\, Rosario Dawson\, Woody Harrelson\, Ian Somerhalder\, and Donald Glover. The star-studded narration is structured as a heartfelt letter to our children’s generation – the very generation who will soon inherit the Earth. The letter\, and the film itself\, is an urgent message about the harsh realities of our future\, as well as a hopeful and practical plan for how to mend the broken systems that dictate human existence on Earth. \n\n\n\nCommon Ground chronicles the struggles and triumphs of a politically and culturally diverse group of farmers\, ranchers\, scientists\, and advocates who all share one thing in common: they believe in a way of ecological farming that builds soil. By using a fusion of ancient wisdom and modern technology\, the farmers and ranchers in this movement make more money and grow more nutrient-dense food than their “conventional” farming counterparts. These “regenerative pioneers” argue that to save humanity from multiple imminent calamities\, we must first save our soil. Common Ground shows that soil is quite possibly the most valuable substance on our planet\, because “if our soil dies\, we also die.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPANELIST \n\n\n\nKaya Williams – Moderator / Aspen Public Radio \n\n\n\nKaya Williams is the Edlis Neeson Arts and Culture Reporter at Aspen Public Radio\, covering the vibrant creative and cultural scene in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley. Williams joined the team after a stint at The Aspen Times\, where she reported on Snowmass Village\, education\, mental health\, food\, the ski industry\, arts and culture and other general assignment stories. Before moving to Aspen in October 2020\, Kaya was a freelance researcher for the podcast team at America’s Test Kitchen\, where she helped produce “Proof\,” “The Walk-In” and “Mystery Recipe” while working from her mountain hometown of Tahoe City\, California. She studied journalism and history at Boston University\, where she also worked for WBUR\, WGBH\, The Boston Globe and her beloved college newspaper\, The Daily Free Press. \n\n\n\nCasey Piscura / The Farm Collaborative \n\n\n\nCasey Piscura is a Roaring Fork Valley based farmer\, seed breeder and regenerative agriculture educator. Casey founded Crystal Valley based seed farm\, Wild Mountain Seeds\, in 2013 on historic Sunfire Ranch where he operates today. In 2019\, Piscura launched local nonprofit Seed Peace with a mission “to accelerate the Roaring Fork Valley’s transition to regenerative agriculture and land management”. Casey now assumes the role of agricultural director at The Farm Collaborative after merging his nonprofit and continues his diverse innovative work valley wide. Casey has spent more than a decade feeding the community through farmers markets\, CSA shares\, restaurants\, food banks and small grocers. His seeds have attracted a nationwide and international audience for their resilient nature\, vigor\, beauty and flavor\, and have been proven to thrive on farms and gardens in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. \n\n\n\nMariah Foley / ACES Agriculture Manager \n\n\n\nMariah Foley is in her sixth growing season at Rock Bottom Ranch\, and 12th year measuring time in growing seasons. A love for outdoor recreation in the mountains morphed into a career in farming through a desire to deepen her relationship and connection with land. Farming allows Mariah to be a participant in stewarding the social and ecological communities that help nourish her. Before moving to the Roaring Fork Valley to work at Rock Bottom Ranch in 2019\, Mariah farmed at larger scale organic vegetable farms in south central Pennsylvania and Boulder County\, CO. \n\n\n\nMariah’s farming career began while she was an undergrad at the University of Denver\, taking every class having to do with food systems and agriculture. She ended up with a cocktail of majors and minors in Geography\, International Studies\, and Sustainability. \n\n\n\nBrian Hightower / AVLT Ranch Manager and Education Coordinator \n\n\n\nBrian moved to the Roaring Fork Valley from Virginia for the summer of ’93 and never left. After teaching social studies in Aspen for 12 years\, he traded his indoor classroom for an outdoor one with AVLT. Since 2016\, he has facilitated outdoor education opportunities for students and educators in the valley and beyond. In 2019\, AVLT’s efforts to protect a piece of agricultural history intersected fortuitously with Brian’s passion for healthy food and local ecosystems. In anticipation of AVLT’s Coffman Ranch acquisition\, Brian completed a Master’s in Regenerative Agriculture in 2022 and added Ranch Manager to his job description. He is consistently working to employ best practices that are focused on soil health and biodiversity and is one cattle drive away from earning his cowboy hat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aspen Valley Land Trust \n\n\n\nAspen Valley Land Trust is the only local non-partisan\, nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving land forever in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys. He specializes in Wiener Klassik — Viennese Classicism — especially the works of Haydn\, Mozart\, and Beethoven performed on the Viennese fortepianos of their time. \n\n\n\nCalled “master of the Viennese fortepiano\,” Daniel’s performances are praised for their “extraordinary precision and lightness” (The Common Reader). Critics applaud his “very sensitive phrasing” and “marvelous dynamic contrasts” (Marblehead Current) featuring “broad warmth” and “lavish but tasteful” playing (Classical Sonoma). \n\n\n\nHe made his Carnegie Hall (Weill) debut at age 22 and is in demand worldwide with 50+ tour dates per year as a sought-after soloist\, Lieder accompanist\, and clinician. Daniel also hosts Classical Cake\, the podcast about Viennese classical music and culture. \n\n\n\nDaniel studied historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He refined his command of historical practices through private study with Andreas Staier and Ingomar Rainer. \n\n\n\nBefore switching to the fortepiano\, Daniel studied privately with internationally-renowned pianists John O’Conor\, Gil Sullivan\, and Robert Lehrbaumer. \n\n\n\nDaniel is devoted to performing on Viennese fortepianos — utilizing the vast range of tones and colors familiar to the composers. He brings his expertise in the Viennese sound\, culture\, philosophies\, and performance practices of the Classical era to his interpretations. \n\n\n\nHe also enjoys the 18th-century practice of leading orchestras in concerto and symphony performances from the keyboard\, acting not as a modern conductor\, but as a leader from within the ensemble. \n\n\n\nLearn more: WEBSITE / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER / YOUTUBE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUPPER CLUB & SHOW TICKETS\n\n\n\nSHOW ONLY TICKETS\n\n\n\nVIEW CALENDAR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocal 7th and 11th graders enrolled in TACAW’s Youth Art Pass program are eligible to receive two (2) free admission tickets: one (1) for them and one (1) for a guest.
